The couple first met while attending the same elementary school briefly before Sebrina moved schools. After a stretch of time, the couple reconnected online. The couple conversed for a few weeks before Sebrina reluctantly agreed to assist Donald with selecting a Christmas tree as a first date (as long as trash bags were bought). While on the date, Sebrina received a call from her grandfather who was emotionally distraught. Sebrina’s grandmother was being life lined to Indianapolis after a heart attack. Without missing a beat, Donald offered to drive Sebrina to her grandfather. Of course, Sebrina argued and refused any of his assistance. However, Donald was persistent and already had the car in motion. He would not accept Sebrina’s refusal. Donald and Sebrina reached the hospital in time to see her grandmother leave in the helicopter and escorted her grandfather to Indianapolis. Sebrina was able to remain calm while in her grandparents presence; however, while in the car Sebrina lost it. Donald was able to comfort Sebrina in a way she had never been comforted before. She could not help but feel safe in Donald’s presence. Donald could not imagine Sebrina enduring the worry and anxiety of the situation alone and silently vowed to be there for her. They spent the car ride discussing hardships, life, and nuances. They shared tears, laughter, and stories of triumphs. Donald and Sebrina have been inseparable since, a true testament to the power of compassion and connection.
