How We Met

Our first date lasted 3 hours!

Sebonay: Daniel and I worked for the same company, when I first looked into Daniels gorgeous blue eyes I knew there was a spark. But he was always so busy and barely had time to chat! So I knew I had to be creative to win over his attention. For Valentines I sent him a secret admirer gift, with the perfect note. Luckily, he knew the secret admirer was me and he asked me on a date. Our first date was over lunch, we spent 3 hours at the restaurant! I could not stop laughing or smiling. Since that first date I knew Daniel was someone special; I could just tell. I love how caring and dedicated he is. And when he smiles, my world lights up. I tell myself how lucky I am every day to know him and can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with him.

The Proposal

Shining Star

Daniel: Ever since we started dating, she was my shining star. Her smile was dazzling and warm, and I knew that when it was time to ask her to be in my life forever, it would need to reflect how out of this world she was. I knew for a long time that I wanted to marry her, but it was challenging to find a time and place that truly reflected how I felt about us. It had to be perfect. It had to be magical. It had to be something that would stay in our minds forever and make sure she said, "Yes!" Eventually, I heard of one particular night in October that there was to be a meteor shower with comets and fireballs lighting up the night sky. What a perfect moment to share with the woman who lights up my own life! The dark canopy of night would celebrate our engagement with nature's fireworks and heavenly spectacle. Of course, I had to be sly. Cunning. I spent two hours detailing my brand new car, and setting up things for a late night picnic- including packing away champagne and pita bread pizzas that I had made just for us. Obviously she'd have no clue what was coming. Under the guise of star-gazing, I whisked away my lady love high up to the mountains of San Luis Obispo, driving us until we could find a perfect spot to spread out a blanket, chairs, and more. We would curl up together, watch the sites, and, as soon as a fireball would cross the horizon it would be my sign to get down on one knee and propose! It was perfect. Until, just as the sky darkened, a heavy, thick fog rolled in. Instead of meteors raining down, the top of the mountain was covered in a cloud and we were covered in literal rain. Determined not to lose the momentum I had built, I pulled my darling into my car and loaded an app on my phone. I would give her the stars, even if they were digital, and we spent the next while looking at what the constellations would look like if we could see them. The rain eventually lifted, but the clouds never did. But we set down in our picnic and enjoyed the food and each other's company. Soon after, I went to one knee and was made the luckiest man in the world when she agreed to be my wife. I can't wait to experience all of the rest of these bright, shining moments with her.
