The ceremony will be on Sunday, September 6, 2026 at 3:00pm, but the party will be all weekend! Arrive at least a day or two early and stay as long as you'd like.
No. Historical weather suggests a warm afternoon and a cool evening - perfect for an outdoor party! However, come prepared for whatever the unpredictable mountain weather might bring. It might be sunny, it might be warm, it might be cold, it might rain or snow. Comfortable shoes are a must - we’ll be dancing under the stars in the dirt!
Yes. Animals too.
No. The nearest civilization of any kind, including hotels/stores/gas stations/etc. is a 1.5hr drive "down the hill." We are in a remote mountain town, and driving "down the hill" is always a last resort. Making that trip daily is not realistic or recommended. Fill up your tank in Pearsonville, and plan to stay on the mountain until you depart.
Grumpy Bear's Retreat (in Kennedy Meadows) will be open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. However, we recommend bringing camping gear and camp food for a couple of meals...snacks, water, whatever you need to keep you happy and alive. Bring whatever you might need for a few days trip without access to any sort of civilization.
Camping Gear: tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, etc. Cooler & ice, food, drinking water, flashlights, trash bags, blankets, toilet paper, clothes for all sorts of weather, swimsuit (for the river), towel, comfortable shoes, shower sandals... you will be camping. Bring what you need.
We will have outhouses on the property. You can also bring a shovel to bury your dumps. Full bathrooms and showers will always be available at Grumpy Bear's campground, but it is about 2 miles from our property.
Heading north on the 395 Freeway just past Pearsonville, CA, make a left onto 9-Mile Canyon Road and proceed about 25 miles into the wilderness. You'll gain about 4,000 feet in elevation in the first 9 miles, and then take a meandering 15-mile drive into Kennedy Meadows down the paved road. As soon as you embark up the hill, you will lose phone service for the weekend. We recommend filling up your tank at the Shell gas station in Pearsonville prior to coming up. Grumpy Bear's Retreat in Kennedy Meadows is a good target to put in your maps; it's about 2 miles down a dirt road to our property from there. Contact us for more detailed directions and a map. Drive safely.
No. Once you start going "up the hill" near Pearsonville, you will lose phone service completely for the weekend. But the stars are really pretty.
Most likely not. Sometimes, the Kennedy Meadows General Store will have fuel, but it's not guaranteed and it's expensive. Fill your tank up at the Shell in Pearsonville before coming up the hill. Shell 102 Pearson Rd, Pearsonville, CA 93527
Yes. They’re not trying to attack you but be cautious.
Yes. Please, no fires.
