Sebastian and Kimberly were destined for greatness after Hinge - a popular dating app - algorithm dubbed them "Most Compatible.” At first, Kimberly was not sure of the algorithm's legitimacy but by the end of the second date, where they spent a few hours sharing stories of existential dread and obscure Youtube videos - notably a Spongebob cover of The Gorillaz "Feel Good” - both of them were smitten. Kimberly and Sebastian quickly bonded over their natural chemistry, sense of humor, and love of hiking. Kimberly felt that she had finally found someone who could keep up with her wit and weirdness. And Sebastian found someone who would sip coffee (only the finest) with him and laugh at his jokes (still working on this). They hiked their first mountain together after only one month of dating - and their relationship has only continued to climb! Soon after, Sebastian “officially” asked Kimberly to be his girlfriend as they backpacked up Mount Langley to 14,000 feet! As they got to know each other more, Kimberly found herself endeared to Sebastian’s confidence and ability to just be himself. His quirkiness made her laugh and his self-assuredness encouraged her own self-confidence as they tried new activities (rock climbing, backpacking) and took on life’s challenges (work stress, juggling school). Sebastian admired Kimberly’s deeply thoughtful, contemplative, and reflective nature, which pushed him to have meaningful discussions that strengthened their bond. They built trust by being honest and open, working through difficult moments, showing compassion and understanding, and most importantly never giving up when things were tough. Kimberly and Sebastian have been intentional with their relationship, investing time and effort into each other’s friends and families. Together they visited the Barr family in Pennsylvania, Nichols in Oregon, Johnsons in Visalia, spent holidays with the Remingtons, time with Sebastian's sister in Ithaca, and attended nearly every Sunday trivia at the Barr house. Sebastian and Kimberly have enjoyed weddings, camping trips across California, competitive game nights, beach rollerblading, Hollywood Bowl concerts, and dinners with their friends. These friendships have provided a supportive community where their relationship could grow. Sebastian and Kimberly balance each other with his laid back nature and her assertive personality, but they have also challenged each other to find their own balance within. Their decision to get engaged meant that the proposal was not exactly a surprise, but it was certainly a special day! Sebastian planned an exciting day that began with a flight to Catalina Island. They then embarked on a sunny hike up to the highest spot on the island. After enjoying the view for a few anxious minutes, Sebastian pulled a box from his pocket and got down on one knee. Fueled by nerves and adrenaline, he asked, “Will you marry me?” and of course Kimberly said “Yes!” They shared some meaningful words and a special moment looking out at the ocean as the exciting reality of this next chapter began to sink in! The day ended with a sweet celebration shared with their close friends and family, who lovingly gave their time and creativity to make the festivities extra special. Sebastian and Kimberly are confidently entering this next chapter, looking forward to building their lives together, sharing exciting adventures, and enjoying the comfort and safety of their unconditional love and respect for each other.
