We are finally here, but first: Thank you!

A lesson in patience...

We want to take a moment to appreciate each and every one of you for your flexibility, kindness, and support. In our efforts to do everything "right" sometimes it feels like a losing battle. It was all too easy to feel a sense of loss missing your smiling faces during our June 26th, 2020 micro wedding, but it was special to us nonetheless. We committed our lives to each other with a simple hike into the woods on our anniversary and exchanged sweet promises. It was humbling and grounding. Life is about adjusting your perspective and inviting in the joy. A beautiful lesson of patience to learn at the beginning of a marriage. But now, we are sincerely ready and anxiously awaiting July 15th, 2022 to celebrate our marriage with a "We Do Redo". Thank you again. Let's get ready to share some joy.

How we met: Avery's Version

Who's that grumpy looking guy?

"I had just moved to San Francisco to start a summer internship, and as many have experienced, that meant I was also on the market for a second job to actually make a buck or two. So with the help of my colleague and friend, I was referred to a catering company which she says is "better than match.com"... Well one evening I was assigned to an event at The Exploratorium. Little did I know, it would be a life changing night. As my coworkers and I gathered at our meeting spot, there was one boy that stood out to me... because of his totally unapproachable and grumpy furrowed brow. Naturally, like a cat to someone with allergies, I decided that he was going to be my friend. As the evening progressed, we finally struck up a conversation, and something unexpected happened. The flood gates opened and I discovered just how wrong I had been in my initial judgment. Out from behind that furrowed brow came the sweetest and friendliest chatter box, completely blowing my expectations out of the water. The one thing that rang in my heart like bells was the most genuine, unapologetic, and sincere laughter. The kind of laugh that made me uncontrollably sympathy giggle along with it. And here we are, five years later, all because of that one event. When the wind blew the napkins from the table by the light of the sparkling Bay Bridge and brought us together unassuming and off-guard. That day I gained my best friend, my partner, and my forever reason to giggle."

Stumbling into my future

"After being in San Francisco for almost a year, I was getting ready to go back home and say goodbye to living in America. I had been in the U.S. for the past 5 years, but I was not sure if I wanted to stay or not. With nothing tying me to stay, a new journey somewhere else seemed exciting. However, all the thoughts about my future changed completely after I met Avery. On one of my last days of work as a caterer, I happened to work with her. I honestly was not happy to work considering all the stress about leaving a country and moving to another one. I wanted to get my work done to see the hours pass by quickly so that I could go back to dealing with my stressful life. In the beginning, we said hello to each other as we would do with any other coworker that we did not know from previous events. Anyhow, I felt that I had to talk with the new person to make her feel more welcomed. I talked with her and as the conversation grew and time passed, I felt a great connection with her. I was not ready to meet my wife in the middle of a shift, but that’s how it happened. I was caught with my efforts to try to impress her. I was really setting myself up for something new. I did not know at the time how much that day would change my life, but certainly it was for the best. I have found my soulmate and my partner in crime. I knew that what mattered was not any superficial attributes that she might have. I knew that the right person was going to be someone that would make me feel something inside and that is what Avery did. Since the first day she has made my heart beat like never before. It was like my body and mind knew we were meant to be, even before we knew all the things we have in common like we know now. I followed my heart and I know she did too. I can only be so grateful and lucky to invite you all to my wedding with her."
