Our Story

His story: I met Amber-Lea while hanging out with my friends and immediately thought she was cute. We went to Whataburger and I was trying to make a move, but my move was just eating Whataburger across the table from her. A few months later, I started working at Joe's Crab Shack and Amber-Lea was my trainer. Eventually, we went to the movies together and, afterwards, we still wanted to hang out so we went to our future-forever-date-spot, HEB, and bought stuff to make Oreo cake balls. We made them in the car while it was pouring rain outside and ate the whole thing together. I didn't want it to end. A few days later, we were just driving around all night after work and ended up at a park and laid in the grass to watch the stars and just talk. Her story: I met Sebastian through his friends and thought nothing of it until a few months later, when he got a job at the same restaurant as the rest of us. We quickly became friends and went on our first date a few months later! After work one night, we walked along the sea wall and sat on the rocks for hours, star-gazing and watching the waves. Time flew by and, next thing we knew, we were watching the dolphins jumping and swimming while the sun rose. It was, and will always be, the most perfect date.

The Proposal

11.18.2017

His: I knew I wanted to marry her from the first month of dating. We took it slow because we both knew we wanted to spend our entire lives together, so we were in no rush. Right before I graduated college, I had saved up all summer under the guise that I was going to gamble it away in Las Vegas but instead I bought the ring. On the day of, everything's already set up at the park where we had our first date but on our drive over, I got a text that our friend had forgotten the ring at home. I had to stall! We eventually got to the park and I'm sweating bullets. We started walking up to the bridge and when Amber-Lea saw all the decorations, she looked at me and I just nodded. We walked across the bridge with all of the pictures from our relationship and flowers everywhere and we get to the spot where we spent that date star-gazing. I got down on one knee to propose and she said "kay." Hers: Four years later, Sebastian was about to graduate college and I had set up a photography session with a friend of mine. With his cap and gown in tow, we walk up the hill to the same park where we had that perfect first date 4 years ago. The bridge was covered in flowers and photos of the two of us and I immediately knew what was happening. He walked me over to a grassy area covered in rose petals and, at that moment, I completely blacked out. I don't remember him getting on one knee, and I don't remember anything he said, but it must have been good because I have a ring to show for it!
