Love Birds

I wasn’t expecting anything to change that day. The shop was quiet, like most afternoons. I had just started rereading a favorite book when the bell over the door rang. She walked in, soaked from the sudden rain, camera slung over her shoulder, and asked if I had anything about stars. There was something about the way she asked—like she wasn’t just looking for a book, but for something else entirely. I pointed her to the shelf near the window, where all the books about space, the universe, and dreams waited. She stayed a while. Long enough for the storm to pass. Long enough for us to talk. She came back the next day. And the day after. What started as book recommendations turned into long walks to the cliffs, where she chased sunsets with her lens, and I watched her more than the view. I closed the shop a little earlier each evening, just to catch those moments with her. She told me stories of places I’d never been, skies I’d never seen. And yet, standing beside her, I felt like the world had finally come to me. When her project was supposed to end, I tried not to ask what came next. But she didn’t leave. She stayed. One night, under a sky scattered with stars, I took her hand and said, “I never thought I’d find someone like you here.” She looked at me, eyes quiet and sure, and said, “Maybe I was meant to find you.” Now, we're planning a life together. A wedding in the bookshop where she walked in from the rain and changed everything. It turns out love doesn’t always arrive with a grand gesture. Sometimes, it comes with a question about stars and the quiet kind of magic that grows when two lives finally meet in the right place. And I’m ready. I’ve never been more certain of anything.
