Answer

McNally's sits in the Sequoia National Forest, thirty minutes outside of Kernville, CA. It is approximately three-in-a-half hours from both L.A. and Fresno. The nearest airport is in Bakersfield, which is at least an hour distance by car. Unfortunately, there is no public transportation in the area.

Answer

No super fancy hotels in the area, we're afraid. McNally's has a few room options, and Corral Creek Lodge is only 15 minutes down the road. If you are planning to stay a night or two, try one of these options. There are additional hotels in Kernville, approximately 30 minutes from McNally's. We love literature, and met in a Lit. Crit. class waaay back in undergrad during the early aughts. We have decided to incorporate that into our wedding. We are thinking of the theme and decor as an Enchanted Forrest Library. What does this mean exactly? Lots of cool book references, games, and an outdoor setting.

Answer

Not really; not strictly. We don't want to be too restrictive with our dress code. Mostly, we hope you come somewhere between cocktail to dressy casual wear. However, it is an outdoor wedding, so we are not going so far as, say formal or black tie. Want to wear a dress? Nice. Slacks and oxfords? Cool. Corduroys and cardigan? Neat. Given the weather in October, you might want to have a cardigan or coat you can layer for warmth in the evening and comfortable shoes. If you wish to dress more according to the theme and vibe, the wedding party and family will be dressing in vintage-inspired looks, from the 1920s (though, NOT flapper) through the 1940s. Think Ginger Rodgers & Fred Astaire; think Katherine Hepburn, Barbara Stanwick, and Jimmy Stewart. Lots of cardigans and sweater-vests, longer hemlines and pleated slacks, tweed, flannel, wool, linen, etc. The ceremony will take place on the sand, so flats are recommended.

October weather in the area can range from the 80s to the 40s. In both cases, it cools down in the evening. While this is an outdoor wedding, there are heat lamps and a firepit available in the outdoor spaces, and there are internal spaces that can be used.
