What started as a simple search for a plus-one on an online dating site turned into a string of misadventures and unexpected joys we never could have planned. We didn’t make it to that first wedding together, but fate had other ideas. Eventually, we took the leap and met in person—officially on Michelle’s 38th birthday, complete with dinner at Mango Tree, karaoke, and Sean showing up with a Magic: The Gathering starter kit. (Romance comes in many forms!) From there, we stumbled, laughed, and sometimes tripped our way through the early days of love. We weren’t polished, but we were real—and that was enough. What we both dreamed of was a partner who would say “yes” to adventures, big and small, and stand shoulder-to-shoulder through all the messiness life throws around. Since then, we’ve tag-teamed surgeries, welcomed a grandbaby, wrestled with insecurities and old scars, and kept cheering each other on. Through it all, we’ve discovered that love isn’t about being flawless—it’s about showing up, growing together, and finding joy in the adventure.
