We met in early 2019 playing a mobile game called Game of Thrones: Conquest while Lex was living in NY and Sean was living in PA. As a leader in the game, Lex attempted to recruit Sean to her team one night. Though he politely declined the invitation, we continued to chat and bond over things like our love of "The Office". Since we were only 5 hours apart, one day we decided to meet in real life, so Lex made the drive to PA and the rest, as they say, is history. Sean's favorite story is how he made Lex be the one to ask him out because "feminism and equal rights are alive and well in 2019", to which she begrudgingly acquiesced. However, things came full circle when Sean asked Lex to marry him, so we consider ourselves equal in contribution now. We continued to play the game for a while as a leadership team and fashioned ourselves as king and queen of Westeros before hanging up our conquering hats for good. After a year of dating long distance, Sean moved to NY, where we lived for two years before relocating to Florida in April 2022. We live in a town called Oviedo now with our amazing dog, Daisy, and three cats, Margo, Ellie, and Socko. On the evening of October 6, 2022, Sean proposed, which also happened to be our 3.5 year anniversary. Lex got home to find the lights off and candles glowing from the dining room table with Sean nowhere to be seen. Also on the table was a bouquet of flowers, rose petals scattered, and an open iPad with a note that said "Press play". When Lex pressed play, a slideshow of photos from our relationship over the years began with the song "Tennessee Whiskey" playing in the background. At the end of the song, the slideshow stopped and a video began to play. The video was of Sean describing his love for Lex and how he knew for a very long time that he wanted to marry her, and the message ended by him saying to turn around. When Lex turned around, Sean was there on one knee with the ring and his proposal. Lex of course said yes, and we proceeded to call friends and family to spread the happy news! We decided on our date for various reasons. Since we have family and friends all over the country, we wanted the wedding to be far enough in the future for people to easily plan for making the trip, so 2024 seemed like a good timeframe. We also wanted to give ourselves ample time to save for wedding expenses, especially since we are also still in the process of establishing our household after moving across the country with only our animals and the possessions we could fit in our vehicles. We originally planned to have the wedding in Florida, but after a vaca to Gatlinburg, TN, we decided to have a smaller micro-wedding surrounded by the scenery we fell in love with during our trip. We both knew we wanted an autumn wedding, so that helped us decided on the time of year. We settled on September 21 primarily because of Lex's fascination with astrology. After researching significant dates in our relationship to see what moon phase and zodiac placement occurred on each date, Lex scrolled through the calendar to find similar moon stage synchronicities to bring good fortune to our marriage, and September 21 happened to be well-aligned and auspicious. She's definitely superstitious and kooky, but she always keeps things interesting! We will use this website quite a bit as we plan to post all updates and details here to make it easier for everyone to stay in the loop. Everything from travel guidance to RSVPs can be shared here, so we hope to make it a very streamlined process for everybody. We appreciate how much effort goes into traveling to a destination wedding, and we truly hope you are able to attend and celebrate with us. Thank you very much for your support, well wishes, and presence on our special day! About the hashtag: obviously this is a nod to Sean's last name, but if you say it fast enough, "Lex get Rashed" also sounds like "Let's get trashed", and with an open bar, certainly anything is possible!
