In the last couple months of 2023, Lesina was living in Hawaii while Sean was finishing a leadership training school with YWAM. They had mutual friends and frequently saw each other around the YWAM campus, quietly noticing one another but never making a move. One day, Sean finally introduced himself to Lesina and her friends at the campus café, sparking mutual interest, though neither acted on it. Later that day, Lesina walked into the campus office where Sean was sitting, but feeling shy and a little intimidated, she avoided eye contact and left before they could talk. Over the next few days, their interactions were limited to brief hellos in passing. Then one night at a campus event, Sean stopped by Lesina and her friends while looking for a seat. As he turned to walk away, Lesina called him back and invited him to sit beside her. What started off a little awkward quickly turned into an easy connection with some fun banter, marking the beginning of their beautiful life together. After a few fun hangouts and a phone call to Lesina’s dad to ask for his permission, the couple officially began dating in early 2024. With both of them committed to staffing with YWAM and leading outreach teams to nations around the world, their relationship was shaped by long distance and full schedules. Despite the challenges, they chose to push through together and grew even more in love. United by their deep love for God and a shared passion for missions, they’ve spent the past few years traveling and serving—and are now excited to finally journey together, spreading God’s good news side by side.
