They say what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. Fortunately, that wasn’t the case for Sean and Danielle. In July 2023, their paths crossed in Las Vegas—Sean was there coaching AAU basketball, and Danielle was on a girls’ trip. By pure coincidence, they were both staying at the Flamingo Hotel… widely regarded as Vegas’s crown jewel—assuming your crown is slightly cracked and carries just a hint of cigarettes. Sean and Danielle first met at a Flamingo pool party, which is exactly as classy as it sounds. Sean’s friend approached Danielle and confidently informed her that someone in the pool had nicer teeth than she did. Naturally, Danielle disagreed—strongly—and insisted on meeting this mystery person to verify the claim. That “someone” turned out to be Sean. After a quick exchange of witty jabs and easy conversation, Danielle had to leave the pool… but not before Sean got her number—arguably his best coaching decision of the trip. The only small complication? Danielle lived in Chilliwack, British Columbia, and Sean lived in Littleton, Colorado—just a casual 1,800 kilometers apart. Despite that, something about it felt different from the start. Danielle went home telling anyone who would listen that she had met her future husband, while Sean made sure the conversation never stopped. The holiday whirlwind of late 2023 pulled them briefly in different directions, and they lost touch—very briefly. Because in January 2024, Danielle sent a message that changed everything: “Sean, are you doing Dry January?” For context, Dry January is when people take a break from alcohol to reset for the new year. In this case, it also turned out to be the perfect excuse to continue their connection. From that moment on, they talked every day and FaceTimed every night, building a relationship one time zone, one late-night call, and one “just five more minutes” at a time. In April 2024, Sean flew Danielle to Denver, where they officially started dating—and very quickly realized this was something worth going all in on. Over the next year, they made long distance look almost easy (almost). They somehow made a 300-square-foot studio apartment feel like home, spent countless hours on planes crossing the border, and never missed a chance to be together. Somewhere between all the flights, phone calls, and tiny-apartment living, they built something steady, real, and unmistakably theirs. In May 2025, Sean proposed to Danielle on English Bay Beach in Vancouver and in true Sean-and-Danielle fashion, they decided not to do anything the conventional way. Instead of jumping straight into wedding planning, they made it official first with a courthouse wedding on August 6, 2025. The courthouse experience was unforgettable in all the best (and funniest) ways. They signed their marriage license next to a couple finalizing a divorce, celebrated with a quick ring of a clerk’s bell, and then casually filed dual citizenship paperwork right after. It was perfectly them: a little chaotic, completely memorable, and full of meaning. Now, fast forward to September 7, 2026. Surrounded by their family and closest friends at Hudson Gardens in Littleton, Colorado, they finally get to celebrate the part of their story that matters most—not the distance, the flights, or even the paperwork, but the choice they made over and over again to keep showing up for each other. Because in the end, what started as a chance meeting in a very questionable Vegas pool turned into something neither of them could have planned: a life built together. One that crossed borders, time zones, and airports—but was always grounded in choosing each other, every single day.
