How We Met

2017

We first met at a party hosted by the St. Joe's baseball team during my sophmore year and Sean's senior year. We began talking that night but Sean had plans to leave the party early to go out with friends in Patchogue. I was kinda bummed when he left, but shortly after, he came back, having walked his way back to the house with a friend. We spent the night chatting and eventually exchanged numbers. We remained friends for a while, talking every day and getting to know each other. Things were starting to get serious when we went on our first date to the jeep beach. He officially asked me to be his girlfriend on 7/7/17. (If you know Sean...it's a numbers thing.) We've been together ever since! I think we both knew pretty quickly that this would be forever!! In April of 2022, we made our first big purchase and bought a condo together in Oakdale.

The Proposal

9.18.22

It was the weekend after my birthday and Sean and I were heading back from a little getaway in Beacon, NY. On the drive back, we planned to stop at Bear Mountain for a hike (which we LOVE to do) before heading home. I was very unsuspecting because my birthday had passed and he had already given me my gift and took me out for a celebration dinner during our weekend getaway. When we arrived at the mountain, Sean insisted he carry our necessities in his backpack instead of me bringing my bag, but I still didn't suspect a thing. Little did I know the ring was in there the whole time! We hiked our way all the way up the mountain. On our way back down Sean suggested we stop for a water break. We sat on a rock and took in the beautiful views which of course means PHOTO OP to me. We set up my camera on a nearby rock to take a picture (something I always do on our hikes) and as we stepped away to pose my phone took a nose dive off the rock. Don't worry, we saved the phone and set it up for take 2. After posing for the picture and my phone almost falling off the mountain, he got down on one knee and popped the question!! I responded “are you serious????” And then an obvious “YES!” I stared at my ring the rest of the way down the mountain, eager to FaceTime my mom. I could not wait to share the amazing news. When we got to the bottom, and I had service again, I started to FaceTime my mom. She was so happy to hear the news and I was so confused when she abruptly hung up on me. When I looked up from my phone I saw her running towards me. Sean had arranged for both of our families to be waiting at the end of our hike to surprise me. It was such a special moment when I realized everyone was there to celebrate with us. We found a nice spot and enjoyed a picnic with both of our families before heading home from the BEST DAY EVER!
