Airport Info

DC has three main airports: Dulles (IAD) - main international airport for anyone arriving from outside the US. 45 minute drive from downtown DC. It is newly Metro accessible, but is not always operating regularly and takes about 1 hour. Reagan National Airport (DCA) - 15 min drive from downtown DC, easily accessible by Metro. Baltimore/Washington Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) - 45-50min drive to DC. MARC train from the airport to Washington Union Station approximately 1 hour.

Amtrak is a great option. Arrivals are at Washington, Union Station.

Here are some lovely neighborhoods to stay in. Capitol Hill /H Street - beautiful for spring walks. There are gorgeous gardens, a great view of the Capitol, it's walkable to The Mall (and Smithsonian Museums), and Eastern and Union markets. This is where we live! Look for addresses from 1st to 13th Streets NE or SE and landmarks like Eastern Market, the Capitol, and Stanton or Lincoln Parks. Dupont or Logan Circles - Located in NW DC. Close to embassies and historic mansions, art galleries, shopping and a big farmers market. Still easy to get to The Mall for museums and other historic areas.
