Sean and Catherine met as many do in the modern world: on the apps. Bumble, to be more specific, where in summer 2020 Catherine shot her shot on the waiter with hair much too long for his own good. Sean was immediately charmed, growing quite fond of Catherine before they even had the chance to meet in person. After a week of proper banter, they embarked upon their first date, an all-night adventure that began at Llywelyn’s and ended with sharing Spotify deep cuts. There was spark at first sight, and so began a summer of falling for each other: drive-in theatres and wine bars and nights they wished would never end. Then came a wonderful year of firsts as a couple: Christmases, family gatherings, pool parties. Sean purchased his first Tom Blood original painting. Catherine would visit Sean at Defiance Ridge, the winery where he worked that eventually became a go-to hangout spot. After a year of dating, Sean was accepted into a graduate school program in Bellingham, WA, a seaside town near Seattle. Sean knew he wanted to attend, but he didn’t want to leave Catherine behind. Together, they took the ultimate leap of faith. They began a new chapter, building a life in an apartment by the bay. Catherine and Sean spent almost two years in Washington, falling deeper in love with each other and their beautiful new state. They hiked every weekend, discovered new favorite restaurants, and made lifelong friends. They hosted family and friends who traveled from afar to see what life was like in Bellingham (hint: rainy, but amazing). They learned what it meant to be there for each other no matter what. When Sean graduated with his MFA, they decided to take another leap of faith by moving to Denver, Colorado in July 2023. Their journey has taken them all across the country, but wherever Sean and Catherine go, so goes their love. And in March 2026, they will move back to St. Louis, a move that has them (and their familly) very excited. Although the couple had done many awesome things together, six months after their move to Denver, they did their favorite thing yet: adopt a dog. Sunny, the sweetest Jack Russell Chihuahua west of the Mississippi, found a home with Sean and Catherine, instantly becoming their best friend. After five wonderful years, Sean knew the fun was only just beginning. On July 18, 2025, he got down on one knee at the Denver Botanic Gardens before surprising Catherine with a special dinner at one of their favorite restaurants with friends and family from around the country. It was time to plan a wedding! If you’re reading this, that means you’ve played a part in their story, to which they are eternally grateful. They can’t wait to celebrate with you in October!
