Flight
The best and easiest option is to fly directly into Cape Town Airport. Its a fantastic small airport which allows for a really easy arrival to the Mother City. However, prices at this time of year can be exorbitant so one often has to look at alternatives through Johannesburg. If flying to Cape Town via Johannesburg, don't street because the connection is a relatively smooth 2hour flight. We strongly advise using Airlink airlines to book your connection. Its a brilliant local airline with great service and aircraft. The following airlines fly direct to Cape Town and Johannesburg from Europe: - British Airways - Virgin Atlantic - Lufthansa - Swiss Air - Emirates (stops in Dubai. A longer option) The following airlines fly direct to Cape Town and Johannesburg from the USA: - United Airlines to CPT (from Newark flies 3 times a week) - United Airlines to JHB (from Newark flies 3 times a week) - United Airlines to CPT (from Washington Dulles 3 times a week) - Delta to CPT (from Atlanta 4 times a week) - Delta to JHB (from Atlanta 3 times a week)
Travel Note
In its efforts to limit human trafficking, South African authorities require parents to produce an unabridged birth certificate for children under 7. Please ensure you have the originals with you - or they will refuse entry.

Avis is the best car rental company in South Africa with the smoothest check in experience. Please book ahead of time for cars! Rental cars can be difficult to find in Cape Town without advance bookings. Note that there is Uber everywhere so car rental is optional.
