Keeping up with the times, Carly and Sean met on a dating app called Coffee Meets Bagel in San Jose, California. They're not really sure who is considered the coffee and who is the bagel but that's neither here nor there. They bonded (fought) over whether killing spiders was considered murder, as that was one item Carly listed as what she was looking for in a man. That battle is still on-going as Carly has to be the one to kills the spiders in the house, while Sean tries to pick them up and put them outside, but then drops them and loses them. Carly had a couple trips home to Chicago planned and had a busy work schedule that seemed to be the opposite of Sean's schedule. Sean asked if Carly would be willing to meet up before her flight home on St. Patrick's Day because he didn't want to wait weeks for their schedules to line up to meet her in person. And so Carly and Sean met at a Starbucks near San Jose airport at 6am. Sean bought a couple coffees and they chatted for about 30-40 minutes until Carly had to go catch her flight. Sean, looking really cute in his work uniform, offered to drop Carly off at her terminal so they could chat some more. They continued to chat through text message while Carly was in Chicago and planned more dates to Shark's games, hikes, and even Disneyland when she returned to San Jose. And as they say, the rest is history!
For her 30th birthday, Sean wanted to make it special for her and planned a trip to the small beach city on California's Monterey Peninsula, Carmel-by-the-Sea. Sean had booked the cutest little bed and breakfast and planned an amazing dinner at a restaurant with a 360 degree view of the ocean. He waited all dinner and then asked Carly if she wanted to go out on the balcony to look at the view (even though it was dark by that time haha!) They went out on the balcony and Sean made this very beautiful speech and Carly knew what was about to happen. Sean pulled out a ring box and asked Carly to marry him. Carly said yes without hesitation! It was the perfect ending to a perfect evening.
