Sean and I have an unconventional start to our love story. While many couples pursue one another in quaint places like libraries or coffee shops, Sean and I met with bloody prosthetics and vampire-like faces. We were both working as talent at Great America’s Halloween Haunt where we would start our nights scaring people together and end them laughing with our friends. After a few weeks of face masks and perfecting our low growls, we decided to finally spend some alone time outside of the costumes. We didn’t venture too far though - we ended up having our first date in the same haunted house that we would scare in! However unconventional out start, it led to an always exciting, adventurous relationship. What started as a fun and joyful friendship has blossomed over the past four years into a solid, dependable and enduring love that will last a life time; we are so lucky our friendship turned into a forever.

Our distinctive beginning set the foundation for an adventure-packed relationship. Whether we are driving up the PNW coast to Washington, swimming with sea turtles in Hawaii or trekking through the beautiful (and quite frankly, freezing cold) lands of Europe, I know I can always expect a phenomenal time, cheek-hurting laughter and heart-filling love. But no matter how far away and amazing our adventures are, Disneyland will always be the adventure closest to our hearts. The kid-like awe and joy that Disneyland fills us with (not to mention all the churros!) makes us fall more and more in love in much the same way we started: easily and blissfully. It was this sense of easy happiness and insane love that made his proposal in a Disneyland even more perfect. Even with all these adventures behind us, I know our biggest one is yet to come – and I’m so excited to share it with all of you this October!

Sean and I knew early on that this was going to be a forever thing However wonderful that early true love knowledge was, it did take the some of the surprise out of the proposal. Just because I knew he was going to propose didn’t mean I knew when or where it was actually going to happen, and he used this to his advantage. In true goofy Sean fashion, he took any opportunity he could to “fake propose” where he would wait for incredibly unideal moments and then get down on one knee with the ring box open, taunting me. He had even at one point joked about proposing to me in the airport terminal, which isn’t exactly what comes to mind when I think romance I’m so thankful he left the airport terminal idea behind and opted instead for the picturesque proposal that I actually got. It was Christmas night and we were wandering through the frost-bite inducing temperatures in Disneyland Paris. We had just gotten hot chocolate and the exhaustion of the day coupled with the freezing weather was impeding on my happiness. All I wanted to do was get back to our hotel and regain the feeling in my fingers, but Sean was being oddly pushy about staying in the park to go see the Alice in Wonderland Maze. Begrudgingly, I abided. As we walk over to the maze, it starts to rain a bit. Still unhappy, we finally reach our destination and Sean recommends that I take pictures of the beautifully lit of Cheshire cat. Still clueless and grumpy, I once again heeded his desire with the hopes that it would shorten the time before I’m back in our hotel. I finish taking pictures and turn around to find him half kneeing (wet ground, remember?) with a smile so big it would make the Cheshire cat proud. It took some time to sink in that this time was the real time, but once it did, I have never felt such an intense feeling of love and happiness. In keeping with our idiosyncratic beginning, during arguably the most romantic moment of my life, Sean and I both had incredibly embarrassing hats.
