We first met through two mutual friends on a dark rooftop one summer night. After running into each other a few more times and fast forwarding 7 months; Maddie was planning a work event out in Mahtomedi and reached out to Sean to see if he could fill a table with his friends, on a push from her friend and now roomie, Teri. He gladly agreed! After all the conversations and the event, Sean FINALLY asked Maddie out on their first date. After agreeing to Cross Country Ski, they embarked on the start of their relationship.

Cross Country Skiing had become an activity that both Sean and I wanted to spend the Winter doing. Back at the start of the season we found a cute Air BnB up in Grand Marais and decided it would be a fun adventure to go and ski on the Gunflint Trail. I invited a few friends to join us, and one of my dear friends from college and her boyfriend decided to join us. The day started beautifully with waking up at 6am to watch the sunrise, surprisingly Sean's idea. After, we made breakfast and hung out, we then embarked up to the trail. As we started out to ski, Sean and I decided to do a short loop and then meet our friends back at the lodge. I was leading, and classically got us lost, by about 20 min. After getting back on track, we decided that since we were not going out to ski after lunch, we should go up to the top of the ridge and see the view. We skied up, and took off our skis to take in the view and take a few pictures. As I started to walk back to our skis, Sean said he had one more thing. He then took out a sunglasses case that was wrapped in rubber bands. I was SO confused as to what he was doing and it didn't click until he took out the ring and popped the question. I said "YES!" and the rest is history!!
