Our story started in the most romantic way possible - at a college house party and with an "accidental" shove and a "hey, my friend thinks you're cute" from one of Dana's friends. Our real first encounter was during our Fall 2011 Sports Management class taught by the best professor Fairleigh Dickinson University has to offer - the man, the myth, the legend - Roger Kindel. But since Dana was too embarrassed by her sweaty-ness from lacrosse practice and team-issued sweat suit to talk to anyone and because I spent most of that class daydreaming, our first REAL meeting was at that house party mentioned above - 100% initiated by Dana's friend, who will remain nameless (HINT: rhymes with Dana). After the "accidental" shove heard around the world, we texted here and there and would occasionally hang out or bump into each other at parties. 7 months later, I asked Dana to ~officially~ be my girlfriend by singing my favorite song - Boyfriend by Justin Bieber (charming, I know) and the rest is history. We all know the song from Beauty and the Beast, but Sean and Dana truly are a tale as old as time. A North Jersey ADHD boy who’s school troubles landed him the girl of his dreams.
"Now we have a better surprise!" This is what Sean said to me immediately after proposing . . . an hour before his SURPRISE 30th Birthday Party that I had been planning for months. Long story short, Sean found out about the party about a week beforehand and in typical Sean fashion, put a wrench in my plans and decided to make the day about us instead of just him. I was in a rush getting ready and ended up running to the bank - in short shorts, a way too long t-shirt, and soaking wet hair. When I got back, I opened the door and when I looked up from my phone, Sean was on his knee with Otis next to him and an open ring box. I was so shocked that I actually said "STOP," and don't ask me what he said because I also blacked out from excitement. Although I was a tad salty he found out about his party, I quickly got over it, and said YES (I actually didn't specifically say yes until about 20 minutes later). When we showed up to the no-longer-a-surprise party, Sean turned the surprise around on everyone else, and we spent the night celebrating Sean's birthday AND our engagement with all our family and friends!
