Matt and Peyton met while in high school. Despite going to the same school and being on the swim team together for 2 years, they never really noticed each other until they were in the same English class during Matt’s senior and Peyton’s junior year. After meeting in class that Fall, Matt asked Peyton out on a date during the County swim meet near the end of that swim season. He asked her with a hug despite the fact that he was fully dressed and she was soaking wet from just finishing her last race. Between setting a county record, winning the championship meet, and asking Peyton out, Matt still describes that day as one of the best of his life. They went on their first date on February 14th, 2017. The pair went to Panera before heading to swim practice together, and after that they were pretty much inseparable until Matt left for college in the Fall. Matt and Peyton then did long distance for 5 years while they both went to college. They made it work seeing each other at home in the summers and on holiday breaks, and visiting each other’s colleges during long weekends in later years. Mostly, they spent countless hours constantly talking via FaceTime, Snapchat, texting, and phone calls. Peyton and Matt both moved back to Frederick after their college graduations, excited to be in the same city again after spending most of the last 5 years a 4 hour and 20 minute drive apart. They spent their time enjoying being so close again by golfing together, playing trivia every week, and generally spending most of their days off hanging out. Life only got sweeter when Peyton and Matt moved into their first apartment together in May of 2024. On October 4th, 2025, Matt proposed to Peyton along Carroll Creek in downtown Frederick - a special place as it has been the home to so much of their love story. It’s where they took their prom pictures, where they went on so many dates throughout the years, and where they will get married on February 20th, 2027, exactly 10 years and 6 days after their first date. They will have a whole decade of love, laughter, and memories to commemorate as they celebrate our marriage and future with you all <3
