How we met!

He was the first stray I took home from the shelter.

I started working at Routt County Humane Society in October 2015. I was new to the building and I was closing the shelter and one of the dog kennel door handles broke. I ran outside because I saw a city truck and Matt was putting some tools away when I asked him if he worked at the shelter. He said he was a maintenance employee and he could help. He came in and he fixed the door handle for me. I remember our instant chemistry and easy conversation we sparked up. For the next 2 months Matt and I got to know each other on a work-new friend level and as much as I thought he was so dorky, there was something about him that drew me to him. Matt stayed after work and made sure I left safe and we would talk and talk and he would always tell me about his adventures. On November 27th Matt came to a moving out party and at the end of the night, I sat on his lap and kissed him on the cheek. After that kiss we have been inseparable.

How He Asked

Down on one knee in 3 feet of snow.

Matt and I took a hike on New Years Day, 2019 with the dogs. We hiked one of our favorite hikes at Fish Creek Falls called Uranium Mine. It was a cold day, I believe it was 10 degrees out. At the very top of the hike that overlooked most of the valley and the frozen water fall, Matt got down on one knee in 3 feet of snow and asked me to spend the rest of his life with him. I said yes and the best part was he asked me with my moms ring that my dad gave her on their engagement day.
