How We Met

our last first kiss

One breezy Pensacola evening, my friend Lex invited me to Trivia night at Big Top Brewery. I sat across from her and was introduced to her friends when someone comes up from behind to ask me, "Is this seat taken?" I looked up to a sun kissed blonde haired, blue-eyed man who took the seat next to me and put out his hand to say smoothly, "Hey I'm Scott "-"Victoria" I responded with a smile, shaking his hand. When my food arrived he looked over at me and asked for a bite! We just met?! How odd, I thought to myself, but I told him 'yeah sure' anyways. It turns out he was just trying to be cute! Once trivia started, Scott's true colors showed and he was smokin' it! He got all of the answers right, and I was so impressed I turned to him with bright eyes and told him, "Wow!! Good job!" And his cute pink cheeks smiled back at me with a sweet and humble, "Thank you," that made me feel so happy! As we were leaving he never asked for my number and later he told me it was because he, "just knew I'd see you again." And we did ♥ Again, and again until one day after leaving Johnson Beach, he looked down holding me in his arms to kiss me for the first time. And that's when we both knew, we found our soulmate ♥

Life Together & Apart

Counting down the days, minutes, seconds to a life forever together

Our story began on May 24, 2019, in Pensacola, FL. Our first movie night (Tucker & Dale Vs. Evil!! At the end, Scott said "Aw, I love a happy ending" and I knew he was the one, my sweet guy) but the night was cut short by Scott, who needed to catch a plane ride back home to Mass! It seemed like foreshadowing for what was to come. But when he returned, we were inseparable! He was so happy when I told him I'd pick him up from the airport, and he took me on our first date, O'zone pizza, followed by a movie. The next day he picked me up to go paddle boarding, followed by margaritas at the Oar House, charcuterie board at the Wine Bar, and when I said I had to go back home to study!! Scott took me to dinner. He had just graduated from UCT (Undergraduate Combat Systems Officer Training) and I was just starting my training. In June, he left for IFF (Introduction to Fighter Fundamentals), while I stayed behind to get back to my studies. In August, he promised to shave his mustache upon returning to Pensacola, since I'd never seen his face without one!! When he returned, I finally saw how young Scott was lol and he was even more handsome than ever! We spent every free second together until he permanently PCS'd to Seymour Johnson to fly F-15Es in North Carolina in December 2019, starting our long distance journey. I dropped B-52s in May of 2020 and PCS'd to Shreveport, Louisiana in June, thus starting the hardest part of our lives and relationship. Long distance is not easy, and back then, I never realized how hard it would be. We have had good times and bad times, but we are so close to that light at the end of the tunnel. True love conquers all. Scott and I have faced life on our own, but also together, thus far. From buying our first homes, to going on deployments, to making time almost every month to figure out how to see each other. We have grown so much and I am proud of how mature we have both become, while growing our love for one another despite the distance. In 2023, after we are married, we hope to be PCS'd around October to Pensacola NAS, FL to start the rest of our lives together and start a new journey in life. One that we and our families have been praying for! So let's celebrate together come July, and be apart of a day that will commemorate our love and the love you have shared with us. Thank you so much for all of your support, we would not have made it without you!

The Proposal

Somewhere on a beach

During our amazing Christmas Cruise with the Gurrola family in December of 2021, after a year of hoping COVID would not cancel our cruise, we set sail on the coast of California for Mexico! Unfortunately, we weren't allowed to get off at the first two ports, but finally struck land in Cabo San Lucas! In the port of Cabo San Lucas we wasted no time! My parents booked a nice tour for us to enjoy all that Cabo had to offer. We set off on our tour boat, as we looked down the clear bottom to enjoy the brightly colored fish then later joined them in the water as we snorkeled. Finally, we ended our excursion at Lover's Beach. My mom and I went straight for the drinks my brother Gabriel snuck in the cooler, but Scott and my Dad said with an urgent, but cool, "No! Let it chill some more! Let's go grab some drinks from the vendors instead," and my mom and I let that go right over our heads! Enjoying my 'chilled' Corona, Scott asked me to go for a walk. He took my hand as we walked along the deserted sand with nothing but butterflies. We arrived to the secluded side of Lover's Beach, and Scott held me tightly as we gazed at the beautiful, clear ocean that never seemed to end. He looked me straight in the eyes and told me how in love he is with me, that he has never felt so happy, and with the most kind, heart-warming words he looked at me with seriousness in his eyes... Then he slowly moved one leg back, and lowered down onto his knee! "Will you marry me Victoria Yvette Gurrola?" "What?! What?!" With tears running down my cheeks, and shock in my eyes, Scott waiting with anticipation, "Is there a yes in there?" "YES! YES! Of course I'll marry you!!" Ours arms embraced strongly with utter love and passion! The excitement was exuding in every direction and a sweet couple came to capture pictures of our joyous moment! We went back to my family to share the exciting news! My mom and I kept crying happy tears while my dad and brothers, who knew all along, pulled the CHILLED champagne out of the cooler while my brother Victor captured all of our precious moments --even the 'pops' from the bottles! Scott and I could not not stop smiling! On a beach created for lovers, what a great way to start the rest of our lives together. That clear blue-sky, perfectly bright day, will forever live in our memories and our hearts. ♥
