Sunny and Scott met online on Coffee Meets Bagel. Scott's profile picture was of him holding his nephew Campbell and because of the cuteness, Sunny swiped right. Few text exchanges later, Scott found out that Sunny was driving up from Orange County to DTLA to watch a movie with her best friend at the historic Los Angeles Theatre that was fairly close in distance to where he lived. Scott decided to crash the movie night and invite himself to girl's night and take the chance to meet Sunny for the first time. This was more of "Meet and Greet" than a "first date". The movie was Home Alone, and all were invited to wear their best PJs. In short, the night consisted of Sunny arriving two hours late, so the ice cream Scott was going to give her melted into a luke-warm, puddle of milk. After the movie they had an impromptu photo of them in a pile of giant teddy bears in the Playroom at the theatre where a bear attacked Scott. (See our photo section for said photo). After the movie, Scott, Sunny and her best friend Zenia stopped by a taco stand for a late night snack. Scott judged Sunny's ability to eat more tacos than him and he loved her for it. After that night, Scott asked Sunny if she would hang out with him again, she replied yes and Scott replied with a surprised "REALLY??". The first official date was a month later after the new year on January 14th, 2018 at the Anaheim Packing District where they shared some chicken sandwiches and frozen treats. This is where Sunny discover Scott's wonderful sense of humor. Their third date was at Cole's in DTLA where Sunny tried her first and best French Dip sandwich and Scott took her to her first post-prohibition speakeasy Varnish, where they talked for five hours and felt like only a glimpse of time had passed by. Their love for each other continued to blossom during their temporary, long distance relationship with Scott frequently scaling the ORANGE CURTAIN!!!. They finally moved in together in May 2019. They shared a less than 200 Square foot studio by MacArthur Park through Covid until February 2021. That alone is a testament to their love, to make it through a pandemic in their little "shoebox". Finally, Sunny convinced Scott to leave their beloved "shoebox" and moved into a one bedroom apartment in Koreatown on February 2021. Funny part is they always end up being in the same room because they can never escape the warm feeling of the closeness they shared for those years in the shoebox.
