A gift
We're married! It has always been the plan for us to celebrate our marriage in two parts: a private ceremony, followed by a larger party with all of our loved ones. We had our private ceremony at the end of October, with only our parents and officiant present. The ceremony was on Taft Point, in Yosemite, followed by a backpacking trip up Tenaya Canyon. It was meaningful for both of us to have this be an intimate time where we could place the focus on one another and the beginning of our marriage. That being said, we definitely missed getting to share this time with our family and friends! We are so excited to celebrate with you all in April, and to have you be part of the "fun" portion of our wedding :)
A pandemic, a dating app, a finger-strip tease, and two touch-starved hotties who quarantined over a series of apocalypse themed road trips. In the modern age of dating, there are few things dreaded more than the shot in the dark, the initial icebreaker, the first message sent over an impersonal dating app. Meanwhile, for those of you who know Stephanie, you know that she is quick to weed out the “weirdos”, and then discard all others. In her brief foray into dating apps, she achieved this by first asking potential matches what their “most useless talent” was, or maybe what their apocalypse aesthetic or weapon of choice would be. Amidst those who reported their useless talents to be ear wiggling or never having broken a bone, was a man who was known to host an “anti-talent show” every year. His anti-talent? A finger strip tease (you can find some pictures in the gallery). Initially hesitant of what a “finger strip tease” might be, Stephanie soon grew suspicious that this weirdo, Scott, might actually be THE weirdo. In addition to obscure burlesque, he was also proficient in woodworking, taxidermy, music, and world travel. Immediately after their first conversation, Stephanie texted her sisters: “I might be in trouble. He’s the real thing.” From Scott's point of view he figured he had nothing to lose, it's the pandemic, so might as well just be yourself with the first dating app message. After some great conversations back and forth it turned out we had simultaneously drawn eachother's apocalypse aesthetic as a cartoon, unplanned and unbeknownst to the other. Over the course of a month on video chat we grew close and finally we decided to meet for the first time on a hike, where Stephanie informed Scott she knew Krav Maga and could kill him with a single blow to the throat... Was it love?
Scott bamboozled me, I said yes, we hitchhiked also
