If you are coming from the Santa Cruz area, leave three hours to get to Big Sur. The ceremony starts at 4pm, so leave by 1pm at the latest. Scott and I recently made the trip and the traffic was terrible! Give yourself plenty of time to relax and enjoy the gorgeous drive. If you get there a little early, enjoy a cocktail at the Ventana patio bar overlooking the ocean. Or drive five minutes south to Nepenthe for another stunning view and a great margarita! Driving up from the south, I'm not very familiar with the drive time, but I would say tack on at least an hour and 1/2 additional time so you are not rushed. There are very slow tourists driving Highway One in the summer and you may get stuck behind a camper van going 15 mph!
After turning off of Highway One up to Venana, continue up the road to the top of the hill by the Sur House Restaurant. Parking will be in that area. After parking, walk towards the restaurant and you will be directed to the Redwood Grove where the Ceremony will be held.
The guest parking lot is located a short walking distance to the Loft Courtyard and the Loft building (where the reception and bubbly hour will be held). However, the ceremony location - the Redwood Grove - is about a 10 minute walk PAST the Loft into the forest along a flat, groomed but gravel pathway. Given this, we recommend wearing block heals, low heals, or wedges. Stilettos are not recommended.
We LOVE your kiddos, but unfortunately the only children at the event will be family. We've kept the size of the wedding small and intimate - approximately 70 guests - so we ask you leave your children at home with grandma so you can party your socks off with us Sunday night! If you have an infant, they are more than welcome as we know how hard it is (or impossible!) to leave them for a night.
