We met a few times briefly at the local watering hole, The Deck. A year or two went by and our mutual friend, Grace, was hosting a small get together. Finally, the timing was right! We stayed up until the early hours of the morning and had a truly unforgettable time. $100 was lost… actually physically lost, then found days later, and used as a pawn to see each other again. Four years later, bam! Engaged!
Through the midst of a global pandemic, the proposal brought light and excitment to a time full of unknowns. Scott had just gotten home from work and Sam was figthing with modern technology. Sam was sitting on the couch and had been trying to figure out how to transfer everything from her old phone to a new one, quite unsuccesfully. Scott had gone into the kitchen to grab something and Mason asked “is that a ring?” to which Scott told him “no.” Sam was completly unphased by this question seeing as she had been (half) jokingly asking every day “where’s my ring?” Mason would join in every now and then, also asking him “where’s Mommy’s ring?” So this was pretty much a normal occurance around the house. Scott came into the living room, picked up Harper, had Mason stand next to him, and got down on one knee. This perfect moment encapsulates the sense of family and every day life that we live. No crazy bells and whistles, just us and our kids in the home that we’ve built together. The rest is history!
