Thursday 4/18 (7PM-10PM) Welcome Party (Dinner Provided) at Legendary Terrace (Right above the Main Lobby) Friday 4/19 - FREE DAY!! Enjoy the Resort! Saturday 4/20 Ceremony at The Gazebo (5:30PM-6:30PM) Cocktail Hour at El Patio (6:30PM-7:30PM) Reception at El Patio (7:30PM-11:30PM)
Hi Everyone, we've put together a list of expectations and guidance for the journey! There is a lot of information below, and none of this (aside from the itinerary) is required for you to know, but it may be helpful to you! Please read and follow as you see fit.
-When you land in Cancun, you’ll have a few minute walk directly from the plane to arrival customs where you will check into the country with your passport. -Once through, you’ll pass right by baggage claim if you checked a bag (carry on if possible to save time). -After passing car rentals and excursion service options, you’ll continue to walk until you get outside to the shuttle service. There will be tons of different services. Scott Jones has booked all transfers through Amstar, so find a representative. According to Scott, they will be wearing blue flowered shirts. If you don’t see them, just ask someone out there and they’ll help guide you. -If there is a small wait time, there is a bar out there for food or drinks along with bathrooms. *The trip on the shuttle from the airport to resort is about 1 Hour and 15 minutes.* Scott is doing his best to group people in Private transfers based on flights. If you are on a Public transfer, you may stop at another resort which may extend the trip. It wouldn’t hurt to reach out to Scott to ask if you are on a private or public transfer and request as needed if you want to ensure you don’t stop.
When you get to the hotel, you will be greeted and will need to provide your passport to Unico upon checking in. They will give these back after a few minutes. You will be escorted to an area in the lobby where they will explain the resort and how things work. If you arrive prior to 5pm, you will be introduced to your local host. The local host is there to help do things like book dinner or answer any questions you have while you are there. Local Host hours are 9am-5pm daily, so if you arrive after 5pm, they will likely share with you who your local host is and take your information so they can contact you the following day. The local host isn’t really a required thing and adds small value. If you do want to take advantage, you will communicate with your local host via WhatsApp, so please download and create a profile before you go! https://apps.apple.com/us/app/whatsapp-messenger/id310633997 -Make sure to ask about in room mixology, aromatherapy, and pillow menu when checking in! These are some extra amenities to take advantage of that they may not share up front!
You should definitely download the Unico 2087 app on your phone prior to your arrival, but not required. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/unico2087/id1185686525 You can use the app to: -View Resort Map -Look at spa services -Look at daily activities (there are a lot of activities each day at different locations/times throughout the resort) -View restaurants, hours, menus, make reservations
Breakfast: 1. Room Service 2. Inez Cafe: There is a Starbucks-like cafe right off the lobby - made to order coffee drinks & small bites 6am-12am 3. 2087 Restaurant - Breakfast Buffet: Has everything & no reservation required, just walk up and give your room number to host 4. Mi Carisa - Sit down breakfast with made to order menu. No reservation required - may be a small wait based on timing Lunch: 1. Room service 2. Pool Service - order at the pool or at an outdoor bar 3. 2087 Restaurant- sit down here with no reservation 4. Cafe Inez - quick bites Dinner: *YOU HAVE TO HAVE A RESERVATION FOR DINNER.* Dinner attire is casual - no bathing suits. You can book a reservation before using the app (you’ll need your hotel conf. #), and I believe you can only book for your room, so only do this if you want to eat with your roommate. Ask Scott J. for Conf. # if you don't have it yet. If you’d like to book a res. for a bigger group (up to 6/8 depending on the restaurant), please email prearrivalhost@unicohotelrm.com with your preferred restaurant & time (you’ll need to provide names & all hotel conf. #) **If you don't want to worry about any of this, then handle it via your local host or call/go see the concierge once you are at the hotel - you may just not get your preferred restaurant or time.** Dinner options: 1. Cueva Siete - Mexican Restaurant: Cool, authentic Mexican options 2. Mura House - Japanese Restauran: They have both a hibachi & normal sit-down option. For hibachi you likely have to book a reservation at least a week in advance. 3. 2087 Restaurant - International Restaurant: A bit of everything but mostly a steakhouse/seafood restaurant 4. Mi Carisa - Italian Restaurant: Great pasta, risottos, and steak. 5. 24/7 Room Service Since most people are only having dinner at a restaurant on Fri, you can always schedule two reservations at different places, one for apps & one for entrees so you can try two places! PORTIONS ARE SMALL - ORDER LOTS OF FOOD!
If you book any spa services in advance of your stay, you can get 40% off of all spa services since we are coming with such a big group. We've had massages and hydrotherapy, and they were well worth it. If you are interested, please view the spa menu on the website and contact pramirez@rcdhotels.com. Her name is Nataly and she will take care of scheduling that. You’ll need your hotel confirmation number to schedule, so get that from Scott Jones if he has not shared yet.
Dress code for the wedding/reception is Beach cocktail attire. Ladies can wear cocktail, midi or full-length dresses. Dressy jumpsuits also work. Gentlemen can wear long-sleeve or short-sleeve button-downs and dressy pants/slacks for the reception. No jackets required but welcomed! Please no shorts, swimsuits or flip flops like you'd wear at the pool :) For the welcome dinner, come comfortable (Examples: shorts/polo/sundress, etc... sandals all good here)
This trip is intended to be for both a wedding and a vacation for yourself. You should spend your free time doing whatever you want at night, but our personal plan will be to do a combination of the following: Bar Balaam - Lobby Bar to hang out. There is usually live music or a DJ Palmera Lounge - starting at 7pm each night, the Palmera Lounge usually does some sort of little activity like bingo or something similar. From there, they’ll do things like salsa lessons depending on the day followed by some sort of show. At around 10pm/11pm, it turns into a club of sorts with DJ and dancing. You can look on the Unico app for an activities schedule
1. WiFi: There is WiFi throughout the resort, both inside and out. We have not experienced any areas without service. 2. Water - there is bottled water literally everywhere and they will continue to bring them by the pool or to the room. The water they service at restaurants in glasses is perfectly safe to drink but ask for bottled if you prefer. 3. Alcohol – They have pretty much everything. One recommendation: I would ask them for specific type of alcohol or they will pour wells. For example, if you ask for Patron in your margarita, they likely have it back there tucked away in a cabinet, they just don’t broadcast the top shelf booze all the time. 4. Tipping - tipping is not required and a lot of people don’t, but these people work hard and you’ll probably wish you did if you aren’t planning to. If you find a really good service person you jive with by the pool, give them 5 or 10 bucks and they’ll take it up a notch. We usually gave a dollar every round or two and then $5 to $10 for dinner. If you bring $20s or $50s, just go to the front desk and ask for change, they have cashiers who can break them down. 5. Beach - Seaweed season will be starting when we are there in April. They do their best to clean it up every morning on the shoreline, but it can actually get pretty bad, so fingers crossed we hit it at a good time. The ocean directly behind the resort is really rocky - for the best swimming, head to the left when looking at the beach to the very outer edge of the resort property! (when looking AT the resort all the way to the right). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you have any questions at all, please reach out to us (Scott Shaner, not Jones), at 219-680-7066. Never a bad question and happy to answer/help! If you made it this far, thanks for reading - appreciate you all so much for coming, and we are SO excited to see you soon at Unico!
