We met through my cousin, Shannon, out one night in Denver. A mutual friend was having a party at Pub on Pearl (shoutout to Brie!) and we ended up on the same side of the beer pong table. Hellos were said, but nothing more came of it, as Scott was moving to Kansas City the following week. Fast forward to July of 2015...Scott reached out to Shannon asking why he had never met me while he was living there, and that "someone should marry that girl" (proof of said words on our photo page). Being the good cousin that she is, Shannon immediately sent a screenshot of the conversation to me. A month or so later, we connected via a Facebook post and started dating long distance until I moved to Kansas City November, 2017.
The Sunday evening started off as normal date night, grabbing some food and drinks. We had been wanting to watch the sunset on the Liberty Memorial lawn all summer, but it had been too hot. Finally getting a slight break in the heat, we headed out there and spent about an hour lounging around on the grass. As we were getting up to leave, Scott asked for one more picture, and as I was admiring it, I turned around and saw him down on one knee. I don't remember anything he said besides, "Mara Lynn, will you marry me?" to which I responded "YES!", followed by cheers from onlookers. See you in Kansas City! :)
