Moody, chic, and elevated formal wear mixed with black tie elegance. Picture rich fabrics like satin and velvet and a palette of black, deep neutrals, and gorgeous jewel tones. For women: Floor-length gowns or formal tea-length dresses with heels and a shawl if you’re cold. Pantsuits and long jumpsuits also work. Dramatic details like bows, jacquard prints, floral appliqués, embellishments, and full skirts are welcome! Keep in mind the ceremony will take place on grass and the reception will be held indoors. For men: Tuxedos or black/charcoal suits with a crisp shirt and tie or bowtie. Jackets and ties are required and tuxes are optional. Polished dress shoes complete the look. Our venue was built in 1926 and is filled with vintage glamour and old Hollywood romance. Dress to impress, and lean into architectural silhouettes, statement accessories, or anything that makes you feel iconic. Have fun with it! If you have any more attire-related questions, please reach out to Madeleine or Scott. Pinterest Inspo: https://pin.it/Qknori9T0
We recommend booking your stay from Friday, March 6th through Sunday, March 8th to enjoy the full wedding weekend. Friday, March 6th – Welcome party Saturday, March 7th – Wedding day Sunday, March 8th – Checkout If you’re in the wedding party, please plan to arrive on Thursday, March 5th for the rehearsal dinner that evening - but anyone is more than welcome to stay that night as well! We would love for everyone to stay on-site at La Valencia Hotel so we can enjoy the weekend with those we love most. For a discounted rate, please see the Travel tab for our booking link. If you prefer other accommodations, we recommend the Grande Colonial Hotel, just a 5-minute walk from La Valencia. Whether you are staying at the venue or nearby, we can’t wait to celebrate with you all weekend long!
While we love your little ones, our wedding is a 21+ event (apart from our niece and nephew). Please reach out to either Scott or Madeleine directly for babysitting recommendations, or take this as a romantic weekend away!
If you’ve been given a plus one, it will be listed on your invitation either as “Guest” or with the person’s name. If it is not included, we’re unable to accommodate a plus one at this time. That said, if we find we have extra space once all RSVPs are in, Scott or Madeleine will reach out to you directly to let you know if we’re able to extend a last-minute plus one. Our wedding will be quite small with just immediate family and our closest friends. We have a very limited guest count in order to keep the celebration as intimate and meaningful as possible. Thank you so much for understanding!
Please arrive to the garden above the pool at La Valencia by 3:30 PM as the ceremony will start promptly at 4:00 PM. You can access this garden via the lobby. Please note there are stairs and the venue is not wheelchair accessible.
We will only be providing an Uber voucher for the after party and there will be no shuttles. That said, the wedding is held on site at La Valencia Hotel. The Grande Colonial is also just a five minute walk away. The welcome party is a five minute drive away from La Valencia and can easily be walked. Please note that parking is limited at the welcome party venue. If you’re traveling from outside of La Jolla/San Diego, it’s best to rent a car or bring your own. There is valet available at La Valencia. There’s also a train that conveniently runs from Orange County to San Diego called the Pacific Surfliner by Amtrak.
