We're Getting Married

Scott and my love story began slowly in 1996 after my sister, Jackie started dating his best friend, Billy. If you ask him, he would probably tell you a different story, but since he didn’t help write this, this is my story. Back then, I only knew Scott as Moose, and we hung out all the time. Even though he was too shy to ask me out, it didn’t stop us from going to concerts, celebrating the New Year together, and spending time with each other’s families. He was even the first guy to ever send me flowers. Then one day it all came to an abrupt end, and we went our separate ways. Fast forward twenty years to when I learned that Scott moved back to the area. After getting his phone number from Billy, I decided to send him a text to welcome him back and to see if he would be interested in catching up over a beer and a pizza. His two word response was “Thank you.” Needless to say, we didn’t go out, and life went on again. Then, in November of 2022, Scott reached out to me on Facebook, and we started texting back and forth. I didn’t think much of it other than just two friends catching up on lost time. But once again, we started hanging out all of the time. We’d go out for dinner, meet up for drinks, and even hang out with each other’s friends. I held on to his every word and truly enjoyed spending time with him. In my view though, we were still just friends because he hadn’t tried to kiss me yet. Months went by, and I was feeling like maybe we were just destined to be really good friends. But I knew that if I didn’t ask him about the status of our relationship, I would regret it for the rest of my life. So, on March 5, 2023, after cooking him dinner, I mustered up the courage to tell him exactly how I felt about him. It was the best decision I ever made. Not only did he feel the same way about me, but he also finally kissed me. It only took us 27 years. The rest is history.
