Mill Mountain Star

Visit Roanoke's iconic star. As the largest, free-standing, man-made, illuminated star in the world, the Roanoke Star is one of the most photographed attractions in the area and the scenic overlook at the base of the structure is a popular stop for an incredible view of the region.

Blue Ridge Parkway

There are tons of overlooks that show off the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains in the area. If you are up for a picnic or a scenic drive this would be perfect. Visit the link for a list of overlooks to plan your drive! :)

Center In The Square

Center in The Square houses several attractions including the Roanoke Pinball Museum, The Roanoke STARCADE, Harrison Museum of African American Culture, Kids Square, the Science Museum of Western Virginia with the Hidden Garden. Visit their website for their hours and admission information.

Hahn Horticulture Garden

The Hahn Horticulture Garden is a 6-acre teaching and display garden on the campus of Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA; open from dawn to dusk, 365 days/year. The garden features perennial borders, water gardens, shade gardens, a meadow garden, and the Peggy Lee Hahn Garden Pavilion (and plants, of course. Lots of plants.) Visit us in all seasons - to relax, enjoy, learn, and grow! Make sure to obtain a VT Visitor parking pass before parking at the garden.

Alexander Black House

In 1798, William Black set aside 38 acres of his land to establish the Town of Blacksburg. In 1987 Alexander Black, the grand nephew of William, began construction on this Queen Anne Victorian home which featured steep cross-gabled roofs, gingerbread trim, a turret, and vertical windows finished in red and green. The Black Family remained in this house until 1935 when Alexander passed away. Its prominent and highly visible location on Main Street lent the house to commercial use and the building was sold to Oakey’s Funeral Home. Hoy Funeral Home occupied the home thereafter until it was sold to the McCoy Funeral home. In 2002, the Town of Blacksburg purchased the home from McCoy to save it from demolition. Today, the Blacksburg Museum & Cultural Foundation operates the Alexander Black House & Cultural Center and is currently fundraising to complete the restoration of the Center.

Bull & Bones Brewhaus & Grill is a locally owned brewpub with both an upscale dining room and a separate sports bar with a casual dining area. Fresh lager and ale is handcrafted and served on site and the brewery is visible through glass walls throughout the restaurant.
