Kellyann and Scott’s love story technically began in college… though neither of them really realized it at the time. Back when they were sophomores in college, Kellyann and her friends met up with Scott and his guy friends in Point Pleasant Beach. Instead of making a memorable first impression, the boys spent most of the night spinning each other around on the frozen Lake of the Lilies like they were auditioning for the Olympics of bad decisions. Romantic? Not exactly. Productive? Also no. Fun for the boys? Yes! Their second almost-meeting came years later at a New Year’s Eve party when Kellyann showed up with her friends and once again crossed paths with Scott and his crew. Yet again, the boys stuck to their natural habitat: talking exclusively to each other and doing what boys do best (video games). Luckily, fate is persistent. Their third meeting finally changed everything. The day of the Christmas tree lighting in Point Pleasant, Kellyann and Scott both ended up at the Blue Marlin bar. This time, they actually talked. What started as connecting over drinks quickly turned into real conversations, laughs, and the realization that maybe the timing had finally caught up with them. The following spring and summer were filled with countless dates, beach days, and hangouts that slowly built the foundation of their relationship. Then, on the Fourth of July, underneath the fireworks, Scott asked Kellyann to be his girlfriend. Little did he know, Kellyann has a strict “no holidays as anniversaries” rule. They made things officially official a week later — at the very same park where, three years later, Scott would get down on one knee and propose. As it turns out, all it took was years of near misses, a Christmas tradition in Point Pleasant, and a little persistence for them to finally get it right.
