Kathy: "We first met at Psychic Awakenings in Seattle on January 14, 2016. I was teaching a 5-week intuitive writing class and Scott was a psychic skills teacher at Psychic Awakenings. He joined my class because the school required a staff person to attend workshops and classes to "hold space." When another teacher couldn't do it, Scott agreed to join my class. Near the end of the class, Scott asked for my number and email to send me the recordings of the class. Really, it was an excuse to get my email and number and ask me out...LOL! Since I was newly divorced, I wasn't sure I wanted to go out with anyone. On one of our first dates, we went to a very darkly-lit Italian restaurant in Fremont, Seattle. When the waiter came around to ask if he could take our order yet, Scott said, "No, not yet. But do you have any headlamps?" This made me seriously spit my water out in laughter. Well, I knew for sure we were going to have fun. And that we are! I think our second or third date was in Hawaii! I was staying on a friend's land on Maui for a few weeks in a geodesic dome. I mentioned I had met someone. She said, "Why don't you ask him to come?" The next thing I knew, Scott had arrived on the land of ALOHA and I was placing a fragrant lei over his neck. That was a very romantic time! Over the past seven plus years, we've traveled and enjoyed all over the globe together. We started our own psychic business on Meetup called Seattle Psychic Institute and we've led retreats in Sedona and Italy and have led numerous workshops, classes, etc. When the pandemic hit in 2020, we decided to take the lemons and make lemonade, we put our stuff in storage and drove across the country to Cape Cod where we arrived at our new, temporary home for 3 months near a beach in Eastham. Three months turned into seven months and eventually into 3 years almost! We bought our first home together in Dennis, Cape Cod and we are both teachers at Ritual nearby where we continue teaching psychic skills and intuitive writing classes. When we arrived on Cape Cod, we saw a wedding on the beach near our house. It was beautiful and simple. We will get married on that same beach!" Scott: "I met Kathy at a psychic school of all places, and that set the stage for everything between us that’s come after. She was teaching a class on intuitive writing and I could see right away she was one of those creative people who marches to the beat of their own inner guidance. At the same time though she had this very caring, empathic way with her writing students, and the combination really pulled me in and I had an instant crush on her. We went out a couple times and found pretty quickly we had a simple, easy rapport and could make each other laugh hysterically. Our fourth date took place on Maui! She had been staying with her friend, who suggested that Kathy invite me. I got the time off work and before long I was being greeted by Kathy at the airport, wearing a beautiful dress and placing a lei over my head. It was a magical week. We fell in love and established the basic dynamic of our relationship, which has Kathy frankly leading the way with her inspiration and appetite for adventure, and me more doing the groundwork. What we have however, is not an “opposites attract” relationship. Both of us are really committed to healing ourselves on an inner level, and in service to this we’ve taken up a spiritual path that’s very similar to each other’s. And that is just one of the ways we complement one another, even extending to the music we like and the pulls we chose for our condo’s cabinets! I mean it’s weird, now that I’m writing and therefore thinking about it. Most of the time I take for granted how well we work together. We started talking about getting married a few months ago. At every step along the way it has felt more and more right. Kathy’s a remarkable woman. I’m glad we get to do this because it says to the world, and also to each other, how awesome this is!"
