Question

Mexico City Tips

Answer

Weather - May is one of the warmest months in Mexico City, with daytime temps in the high 70s to low 80s. Evenings cool down into the 50s/60s, so a light jacket or wrap is recommended. May is also the start of rainy season - afternoons showers are short but common. Altitude - Mexico City sits at a high elevation of 7300 ft, which can affect energy levels or cause lightheadedness if you're not used to it. Drink plenty of water, be careful of alcohol consumption, and take it easy if you feel a little off. Shoes - Ladies, the sidewalks and streets are very uneven and include cobblestones. We highly recommended only bringing low or block heels to wedding events. During the rest of your stay we recommend closed toe, flat shoes. Currency - Pesos (MXN), are the local currency. Most places accept cards, but it's a good idea to carry some cash for small purchases or tips. You can withdraw pesos at ATMs once you arrive. Language - Spanish is the official language, but many people in hotels, restaurants, and shops in Polanco speak basic English. Still, a few phrases like "gracias" and "la cuenta, por favor" go a long way! Food - Mexico City is known for its amazing food scene! From street tacos to Michelin-starred restaurants, come hungry and adventurous.
