Our Story

The Wedding Website of Camila Rojas and Scott Weinrich
The story of how we met, our first date, our favorite memories, and what we love about each other.

How we met

******

Camila: We met on Bumble, I liked Scott's profile because it had a picture of him climbing at Sportrock, my climbing gym. At first I wasn't interested in dating, but up for climbing with someone new. We connected and we hung out at Sportrock for an evening… we immediately became friends- and maybe even business partners. Later, we climbed a second time with our friend Crystal, and we planned to go salsa dancing afterwards. But instead of salsa night at The Renegade, it was football night. So instead we went to eat at Don Tito's nearby. The three of us talked about life and chatted for hours. Scott and I connected over life advice… and after dinner, Scott asked me on a date. I said yes.

First date

******

Our fist date was at a sushi restaurant. Both of us were excited to see each other again... and this time, it was a real date. It wasn't awkward at all because it already felt like we were good friends. We had already seen each other at our goofiest, so there was no need to worry about making a good first impression. We sat down to eat sushi, and started talking. It wasn't anything crazy, just normal conversation. Suddenly we looked around and the staff were putting the chairs up. We thought, "Wait, why are they closing down the restaurant? We just barely started talking!" It felt like maybe half an hour had gone by, but we blinked and the staff were waiting for us to finish. We have no idea how much time actually passed, but it was probably a couple of hours. Suffice it to say, our first date went pretty well.

Favorite Qualities

******

Camila: I really like how Scott tries to analyze the world based on facts, goals and rational thinking. He's also very genuine and never pretends to be someone he's not. He's careful about his choices and thinks deeply before making a decision. I put my trust in him because when he says something, he truly means it. There's enough messiness in the world, but with him, things are simple. He's also very sweet. I was recently looking at getting a scuba suit but was worried about the budget. I planned to find something online secondhand. Without any fanfare, he quietly bought me a whole new scuba suit. I really respect Scott’s strong sense of loyalty to not only take care of the kids, but to be a good parent. He takes the time to teach them about life and he cares about what's best for them long-term. He's lowkey and understated, but he's solid in his actions. Scott: Camila has a way of thinking that is different than other people. She has fun, innovative, fresh ideas and stands out with her individuality. She's unique and doesn't follow the crowd—she does her own thing. I'm never going to meet another person like Camila. She doesn't hide who she is behind anything. She's not afraid to explore things off the beaten path. I mean, the first time we met, she talked to me about creating ventilated climbing shoes. And she was trying to make me her business partner on this amazing idea (patent pending). I love all of these things about her.

Favorite memories

******

One of our favorite memories is traveling to the tropical rainforest in Grenada. For one special hour, we had it all to ourselves. We swam in a tropical waterfall and put our feet in the water while fish came to nibble on our toes. Looking around at the wildlife, it felt like we were the only 2 people in the entire world. It was like nothing else existed in this little paradise. It was such a special experience to share that moment with each other. Scott: A great memory is when we went hiking in Shenandoah. It was supposed to be a beautiful day, but it started pouring rain just as we got to the furthest point away in our 15-mile hike. We ate lunch huddled underneath a small footbridge and got absolutely drenched. We were trying to make the best of it, but eventually we realized it wasn't going to stop. So we hiked back, drenched head to toe. But despite the unexpected environmental catastrophe, it was still fun. Simply because we were together. Another silly memory I have is when we were all bundled up in the snow outside our house. The kids hopped on Camila's and Crystal's backs and raced around like racehorses. That moment of unbridled enthusiasm is very characteristic of something Camila would do.
