Alicia had just entered the dating scene the month before and was looking to find some fun friends. She got a lot more than she bargained for! A new friend had invited her to a Sunday evening picnic where a large group of singles and their kids were getting together at the park. A cute, little blonde girl came up to her and out of the blue asked, "Are you going to marry my dad?" To which Alicia replied, "Sweetie, I don't know who your dad is." Little did Alicia know, before arriving at the park, Rebekah had informed Scott and she would find him a wife tonight. After pointing to Scott, the girl asked, "Are you going to kiss my dad on the lips?" At this point, Alicia knelt down and asked the little girl if her parents were divorced. To which the little girl gave a sad, resigned story about how difficult divorce had been for her. Alicia's daughter, Ellie, had been praying for a friend with divorced parents so she could have someone to talk to. This was the answer to their prayers! Alicia introduced the girls and they become fast friends. Unbeknownst to Alicia, her son, Ben had introduced himself to Scott and they became "best friends" as Scott brought a towel for him since he had ran through the sprinklers. Alicia looked up and noticed her children being lovingly cared for by Scott and a quick friendship began. Scott was immediately interesting and soulful. Alicia was fun and attractive. The two decided it would be a crime to keep the girls apart, so they scheduled a family date. After hanging out a few times, they decided that a date without the kids could be fun. And the rest is a bumpy, beautiful history.
