Tresa and Robert met at Church for the Nations in Phoenix, Arizona. Tresa was new to the church and was attending a "She Is" women's ministry event to make some friends. Robert is head of security at CFTN and he was supervising the event. To Tresa, God was courting her and taking care of her heart. She was spending hours a day with Him learning what His best really meant. To Robert, he had actually thought he would meet his future wife at the event but was not trying to get his hopes up. He felt it was a lost cause. Tresa and Robert initially passed each other as Tresa had a plate of goodies and sweets. She giggled as she passed him by the doorway. Robert spent the evening trying to find where that "giggle" was sitting. They didn't see each other again until the end of the event. Robert was to himself, cleaning the tables and folding chairs. Tresa was waiting on her friend and saw Robert cleaning by himself. She was staring at him long enough for him to ask, "You wanna help?" The two then walked around the church courtyard, Robert had a ladder in his hand, taking white flowers out of the tree. Tresa was holding all the flowers, helping with the take down. The two went their separate ways after that. The event was on a Friday night. Tresa walked away, telling God, "He's really cute but I'm not going to pursue it unless you make him come and talk to me first." Two days later at service, Robert found Tresa after service and the two exchanged numbers and the rest is history.
In conjunction with how Tresa and Robert met, Robert proposed in the same courtyard. It was a unique Sunday. Tresa had the day off for the first time all football season. Robert, Tresa, and Grace went to church together and then Tresa went to lunch with her soon-to-be sister in laws. The girls went shopping all day while Robert arranged the proposal. Because the girls took one car and left after service, it made sense to go back and pick up the cars. When Tresa got to the church, she turned the corner by the courtyard and Grace was there with her favorite flowers. Robert brought Tresa back to where their love story all began, at God’s house! They said “I love you” to each other after service one day standing in the CFTN parking lot. Their second date was at a Mountain service praising God. Unchained Melody is their “stop everything and dance anywhere” song when life gets crazy. The dress Gracie wore was the first thing Tresa bought her. All of the pictures placed everywhere were a timeline of their relationship. Even the flowers Robert was standing in were the same flowers the two took down together the night they met. It was perfect.
