Jeremy and Schuyler first met in the Spring of 2014 after Jeremy’s good friend, Kristina, who was playing on his Tinder (dating app), "swiped right" on Schuyler's profile. Rumor has it that it was her, not Jeremy, who sent the first message to Schuyler, and so credits herself for the two meeting - thank you, Steen! After meeting at a sushi restaurant, the two continued their conversation at a bar across the street. Schuyler remembers Jeremy being very handsome and reserved during the first date, and Jeremy remembers feeling slightly intimidated and entirely impressed by Schuyler. The two connected over their passion for travel, food, drink, and love of friends and family. Jeremy and Schuyler have recreated their first date many times since, and even took their engagement photos at the bar where they first met (see 'Oh Bar' on our Things to Do page!).
Jeremy and Schuyler first discussed the idea of getting married while eating out (all of their important conversations about love, life, family, and future have occurred over food and drinks), and decided that neither wanted to be “surprised” by a proposal. The couple planned to make it official in April of 2020 during a trip to New York City, complete with a nice hotel, dinner, and Broadway show - but COVID had other plans. Finally, the two coordinated a trip to Lake Placid in November of 2020 with their dog, Bailey, and exchanged rings after enjoying a romantic dinner while overlooking the lake and falling snow. Jeremy and Schuyler are both wearing engagement rings, which will become the other’s wedding ring during the ceremony. Yes…not only do Jeremy and Schuyler have the same shirt, pants, and shoe size, but they also share the same ring size.
We decided to have a little fun, and separately write our favorite memories of each other. As you'll read below, some common themes emerged...
Several months after we first met, we took a trip to Washington, D.C. I remember being so excited realizing that Schuyler was the perfect travel companion - organized, but easy-going, and shared my strong vacation preference to have a written out, hour-by-hour schedule of each day, which includes equal parts museums and history, with eating and drinking. Another of my favorite memories of Schuyler actually occurred during one of the more traumatic experiences that we have had together. In February of 2019, our dog, Bailey, was sprayed by a skunk right into her face. The chemicals made her eyes completely swell shut, and she was crying in pain while the two of us climbed into the tub and tried to clean her off. As Bailey’s crying got worse, I started crying just looking at her. At that moment, I realized that Schuyler had begun singing nursery rhymes in an effort to calm Bailey down (and probably me, too). I remember thinking in that moment that Schuyler will make an incredible father one day.
The past seven years alongside Jeremy have certainly been an adventure. Anyone who knows him understands his caring nature, deep connection to friends and family, love of food and drink, passion for music, and a ridiculously impressive ability to turn any gathering into a *party* (you better believe our wedding will be no different!) My first “favorite” memory of Jeremy was the first trip we took together as a couple. We visited DC to see some friends and family and, along the way, discovered our shared interests in travel, history, good beer, and a well-planned itinerary - the latter being of supreme importance! With this combination, I knew I’d found someone special. My favorite memory, though, is when Jeremy somehow managed to surprise me with a 30th birthday party. We had planned to meet some friends for a casual gathering, but instead, I walked into a room full of photos from my childhood, a sampling of my favorite foods, and even a custom game based on my “overachievements”. Not only did he pull this off without my knowledge, but what’s truly impressive is that the party started just hours after he was discharged from two days in the hospital for possible appendicitis, thanks to the help of some amazing friends. It just goes to show how thoughtful, caring, and party-ready Jeremy is at any given moment!
After nearly eight years of being together, we could not be more excited to celebrate our big day with you all. We feel incredibly fortunate to have the privilege of getting married, surrounded by our family and friends.
