Erin and Mike met after Erin's family moved from East Dubuque to Dubuque. Way back in 1997, Erin joined Mike at Kennedy Elementary school where they knew each other, but weren't really friends. Erin and Mike continued to attend the same schools all the way through high school where they were both in band and marching band together, where Erin was in the color guard while Mike played trombone. They also had German class together all 4 years, and if you ask who's better at German, it's definitely Erin. Once they both graduated, they took separate paths as Erin went on to Cosmetology school here in Dubuque, and Mike went to the University of Iowa. Because they only really knew who each other was, but did not do anything socially together while in school, the two didn't see each other until years later when Erin was singing the national anthem at a Dubuque Fighting Saints game that Mike just happened to be attending. After the game, Mike had reached out to Erin to tell her how good she was and that spurred on more conversations about how each other was since high school. They eventually started seeing each other more and began dating, doing more things together as a couple and officially started dating on New Years Eve 2017. Before long they each had gotten the other to be more interested in things that the other person enjoyed, although unfortunately Erin more than likely will never go skiing again. The relationship kept blossoming and before long, Mike knew that she was the one. 2 years after the couple had started dating, the question of marriage was proposed to Erin on New Years Eve 2019 where Erin quickly responded with a "yes!".
