Our story began long before we ever realized it would. Back in 2010, Jonathan worked at Brookshire’s. I had stopped in for a few groceries, and he kindly carried them out to my car. We exchanged contact information and talked for a short time, but life took us in different directions, and we went our separate ways. Years passed, and in 2024 we reconnected through Facebook Dating. At the time, I wasn’t sure I was ready to step back into dating. I had been a single mom for nearly nine years, and every decision I made had to be made with my wonderful son, Westyn, in mind. Jonathan and I both tried dating other people, only to discover that those paths weren’t healthy or meant to last. Then came Wednesday, April 16, 2025. Jonathan decided to attend a singles group dinner at church for the first time. Westyn and I hadn’t been to dinner in a few weeks, but something brought us there that night. As we stood waiting, I was distracted when I heard someone say, “Hello.” I looked up and realized he was speaking to me. We talked briefly before heading through the dinner line. After we sat down, Westyn looked at me and said, “Mom, we should invite him to sit with us. It can be scary to sit by yourself in a big church like this.” I told him that if he felt that way, he should be the one to invite him—and he did. From that simple, brave moment, our love story truly began. Like any meaningful journey, ours hasn’t been without challenges. But we are committed to keeping God at the center of our relationship. Through faith, prayer, and choosing to walk together in Christ, we have found love, healing, and joy. With grateful hearts, we are excited to begin our forever.
