Gathering Place
Sprawling 66.5 acres in the heart of Tulsa, USA Today named Gathering Place "Best City Park" in 2024, and it's worth seeing! Best discovered on foot, we recommend getting out and exploring the park if you have 1-2 hours to spare.
Philbrook Museum of Art
Philbrook Museum of Art is committed to being Tulsa’s most welcoming and engaging cultural institution, providing a unique trifecta of experiences: a historic home, world class art museum, 25 acres of gardens. The gardens! I repeat, the gardens! They're beautiful. Philbrook Museum of Art opened on October 25, 1939. The addition of a 70,000 square foot wing in 1990 turned the historic home into a modern museum complex. A major garden renovation in 2004 cemented the Museum’s reputation as “the most beautiful place in Oklahoma.” Through bold action and strategic investment, we create a space for new ideas, diverse stories and perspectives, and social connection. The Philbrook Collection features more than 16,000 objects with a focus on American, Native American, and European art. Serving over 160,000 visitors annually, Philbrook shines a light on Tulsa’s storied and complex past while building a diverse and creative vision of the city’s future.
Guthrie Green
Guthrie Green is a nice green space located in Downtown Tulsa, close to a couple of the hotel recommendations. It can be peaceful and relaxing or lively with people gathering and socializing. You can stroll through on your way to another destination, or take a seat and enjoy the weather.
Woody Guthrie Center
Admittedly, we have not been to the Woody Guthrie Center - but we hear it's great! If you're staying downtown near The Tavern, this will be right in your path and could make for a great way to spend some time indoors.
Cain's Ballroom
The show options on this weekend are... interesting, to say the least. But we'd be remiss to not let you know you will be in close proximity to Cain's Ballroom! Built in 1924 by Tulsa entrepreneur Tate Brady, The Cain’s Ballroom has gone from a garage, a dime-a-dance joint and a dancing academy until it became what is known by artists and patrons alike as one of the top performance venues in the world today.
Saint Amon Baking Co
Located in South Tulsa 1 mile from Laura's house, St Amon French bakery has become our go-to for croissants and other pastries. Laura's family in Plano look forward to it each time they visit! Our favorite is the Pistachio Croissant, but whatever you choose, you will not be disappointed. The ultimate combination is to grab your pastries at St. Amon and pop over next door to Nordaggio's coffee shop to enjoy your treats with a fresh cup of coffee. Nordaggio's is a local coffee roaster with excellent brews and creative seasonal drinks.
