Once upon a time, a man and a woman both wanted a classic Saturday afternoon in New York City. Neither knew that September 23, 2023, would become the beginning of the greatest adventure of their lives. Anna agreed to meet up with some friends at a Biergarten as several Oktoberfest celebrations were beginning. Tyler, on his first trip to New York City from Charleston, SC, was ready to unwind at Bierhaus NYC after touring the city the day prior. Then he saw her. Tyler was immediately struck and casually managed to sit beside Anna at the table. Conversation came easily, and hours seemed to disappear. Anna began to see Tyler as more than a handsome frat boy after Tyler shared his love of books and his knowledge why Anna called her cat “Joey” as short for Josephine through his not so secret (now) enjoyment of Dawson’s Creek. Tyler, before he departed, asked Anna for her Instagram and she provided. Instagram messages quickly turn into texts which rapidly turn into three-hour nightly phone conversations about hopes, dreams, fears, triumphs, and daily events. During one of these conversations, Tyler may have learned of Anna’s predilection of flowers. Anna had a wedding near Charlotte, North Carolina and told Tyler in the hope to somehow to see him again. Given the proximity, a quick three hour drive, Tyler suggested he swing by for a date. A month of conversations led to one unforgettable meeting outside the Charlotte airport, when Tyler and Anna finally found themselves face-to-face, words became unnecessary. Their story began with a kiss, in front of her friends, and a moment neither would forget. The rest of the day was spent with tacos, walking through a rose garden, and singing together on the way home. And thus, countless flights to and from NYC and Charleston were made. With each trip to NYC, Tyler sweetly stopped by a flower shop to "afford him the opportunity to give back some of the brightness she shone on his life." In return, with each trip to Charleston, Anna would bake Tyler a different sweet treat. Anna and Tyler's romance flourished as they continued to travel the world together and meet each other's families. In the fall of 2025, after a summer of wondering if Tyler might finally ask her a very important question, Anna was told they had a big day planned in the Bronx filled with gardens, art, the zoo, and Little Italy. While Anna took her time getting ready for what she thought would be a relaxing Saturday, Tyler’s excitement and nerves seemed to get the best of him. Rather than taking the subway, he whisked them away in an Uber to the New York Botanical Garden. After a leisurely stroll through the rock garden, Tyler led Anna to the rose garden. Surrounded by roses—a beautiful symbol of their first date and the love that had continued to bloom and grow—Tyler got down on one knee. He shared a heartfelt speech about their love and the life they had built together, ending with a simple, four-word question that would change their lives forever. In March 2026, Tyler moved from Charleston to the city they first met, closing the distance that had separated them for several years. The past three years have flown by and have truly been the best years of their lives. Anna and Tyler always keep flowers in the home to brighten each others day and at every table save the other a seat. Now, Anna, Tyler, and Joey are so grateful to be surrounded by friends and family who have supported their story from the beginning, and they cannot wait to celebrate the next chapter with everyone in Tulsa this June. After all, the greatest love stories sometimes begin with the simplest of moments: two people, a Saturday, and an unexpected seat beside the person who would change everything. And sometimes, years later, that story finds its way to a garden in bloom where two people begin the next chapter of forever.
