Back when we were cool and didn’t have a bed time of 10PM, we used to go to music festivals! Zak and I hung out with a mutual friends group that enjoyed going to music festivals so that is we started hanging out. All of us were gearing up to go to a music festival in Philadelphia, PA called Hijinx! Zak, Anna, and I flew up a day before the festival to explore the city since none of us have ever been. My dad actually gifted us the hotel as a part of my Christmas gift (important part of the story later). The plan was, Zak was going to spend the night on the pullout couch since everyone else whom he was staying with was coming up the next day. Amanda who was riding up the next day was staying with was going to be staying with us - so they’d just swap places on the way to Airbnb. Well, my father, Luke, asked for a picture of the room and view. So, I sent him a picture of the room and Zak happened to be in the background. If you know my father, what he said next would probably not surprise you. The response was “who the f****is this guy”. Funny, now "that guy" turned out to be my future husband! Zak and I have been inseparable ever since.
Zak planned a mountain gate away with my best friend, Hannah, and her husband, Freddie. We were actually supposed to go horseback riding but those plans cancelled due to the weather. However, they quickly planned a plan B and we went hiking up Water Creek Knob. I had no idea this was going on at the time, but had my suspensions because Zak packed without me and he ended up forgetting all his nice shirts so we had to go out in Asheville so he could buy one (Hannah picked it out). We got to the top and were taking pictures and Zak dropped down on one knee and just worded vomited “Wi you marry me?”. I actually never said yes,m until we were off the top of the mountain. This actually wasn't called out until Freddie said "I don't think I heard a yes."
“A 'Soul Place', is a space or place that you feel particularly drawn to, and that makes you feel 'at home'. It is your soul's true home in nature, a place where you feel as much a part of it, as it does of you. This is a place that you feel completely at peace, it could be a forest, an ocean, a ruined castle, or even the city...But wherever it is, you get a spectacular sense of belonging when you're there.” Our souls have always been drawn and connect to the mountains, it truly is our happy place. We went out to Colorado and Wyoming for Zak’s birthday and felt immediately at peace. This is why we chose the Grand Tetons!
