Without knowing how a summer in the Santa Cruz mountains would change us, we each made our way to Camp Krem in 2008. We worked hard and fell harder for each other as we returned to camp for several years. The San Francisco Bay Area became our home between summers where we grew deeper in love while being romanced by the city. Ready for something new, we landed in Sacramento to continue creating our life together.
After exploring for hours through trees and brush at Loon Lake, we found a perfect spot for the night. The picture above is a view from our campsite. The plan was to nap and wake for the sunset (and so that Carlos could propose), but fatigue took over and we missed the golden hour. Waking early after a wild, windy night, we felt victorious for surviving. The two of us stumbled to the lake for breakfast where Carlos pointed to something in the distance, using the distraction to get down on one knee. Shortly after an excited, "Of course!" the wind picked up and tumbled our tent straight into the lake. Let the adventure begin!
