It all started at Kroger our very first jobs. Marissa was a college girl balancing classes at SVSU and cashier shifts, while Anthony was a single father of two, working hard to provide for his kids. At first, we were just two coworkers passing time, until fate (and a schedule change) placed us side by side in the same department: Drug GM. Suddenly, stocking shelves came with a little extra excitement. One day, Anthony tossed out a sarcastic comment as he walked by Marissa. Not exactly love at first sight, but it was enough to earn a laugh, and maybe a playful eye roll. That quick spark turned into curiosity, and before long, Marissa couldn’t resist wanting to know more about the charming single dad with the witty sense of humor. What began as aisle banter quickly grew into late-night conversations, inside jokes, and a connection neither of us expected.
