Addison and Emma met sophomore year of college at NC State when he asked her to be his Spikeball partner at an on-campus event. One short-lived, debilitating crush on Addison and four years of steady friendship later, Emma was shocked when Addison asked her on their first date at the end of an after-church walk around Lake Johnson. It had been years since Emma had thought of Addison as anything other than a great friend, but after that first date, they realized they were both finally ready to move beyond friendship, and now here they are - better friends than ever and ready to partner up for the rest of their lives. Some notable moments in between: - August 2019: Emma high fives a date at the end of the night instead of hugging him goodbye because she can’t get Addison out of her head. The "high five" date becomes classic Emma-lore to all who know her. - May 2020: Addison checks “would not partner again” when evaluating Emma as a group member on a project and TELLS her several months later. No, she does not let him live this down - now they are partners FOR LIFE. - September 2021: Addison starts to notice Emma as more than a friend but believes any sort of move would be in vain - the difference in leagues would be too great to overcome - November 2023: Emma and Addison reconnect at church. Chloe asks Emma if she would ever consider dating Addison. Emma says, “No, that ship sailed a long time ago.” - The next day: Addison asks Emma on their first date. She says yes :) - December 2024: Addison asks Emma to marry him. She says yes again :)
