Zach and Faith were best friends during their freshman year of high school. Zach wanted to take the friendship and make it more than just a friendship. However, Faith was not ready for that and put Zach deep into the friend zone. They did not talk for 3 years. When Covid came, Faith and Zach, like so many freshman college students, stayed home for school. A mutual friend started a study group for college students to have a place to do class together. Both joined and through weekly study groups, rekindled their old friendship. As schools began going back in person for 2nd semester, the study group dwindled to just Faith and Zach. They asked each other, "Should we keep study group going?" "With just the two of us?" "Yes!" Faith and Zach began to hang every Friday, just like they did in study group, then every day. While watching "The Joy of Painting with Bob Ross", Zach held Faith's hand. Faith knew it was her responsibility to ask to make this relationship official after friend zoning Zach back in high school. Faith worked up the courage and started the "DTR" conversation during the semi-final of "The Great British Bake Off" on March 13, 2021.
Zach and Faith first started talking about getting married on their one month anniversary in April. They both came to the realization that the other was "the one". Faith would frequently bring up examples of unacceptable proposals. Crowded restaurant? No. Jumbotron Kiss-Cam? Absolutely not. Grocery store? NO. Zach's options became very limited very quickly. Eventually, Faith discovered exactly what she wanted: Disneyland. And Zach and Faith already had plans to go to Disneyland with some friends, Jason and Sara Nelson, so this was the perfect opportunity. But how to let Zach know what she wanted? Faith suggested it naturally in conversation where Zach noted it. Then she dropped the "hint" again, and again, to the point where Zach could not possibly ignore what she wanted. Now she just needed to wait. The first day at Disney, Faith was on high alert. When? Where? Is it even gonna be today? What if he doesn't propose? And Zach? Calm, cool, and collected. At least until Zach, Faith, Jason, and Sara separated from the larger group and went to lunch in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. His blood was starting to pump. The plan was coming together. After lunch, Zach "had to go to the bathroom" while the others went to the Millennium Falcon for pictures, exactly where they were supposed to be. Faith was taking pictures of the Nelsons, and Sara said that it was time for Faith and Zach to get their picture taken when Zach came back. Jason had his fancy camera (brought only for this occasion) and was taking pictures them in front of the Falcon, while Sara secretly recorded it on Jason's phone. Zach leaned down to Faith and said, "I love you." "I love you too!" "We should get married!" (An inside joke between Zach and Faith whenever they both said they have something they love or like in common.) "Yeah!" "Okay," Zach got down on one knee, pulled out the ring, and asked, "Will you marry me Faith?" In case you haven't already guessed, Faith said yes.
