Granby Ranch Ski Resort at Base Camp One
Our story began on January 13, 2022, with our first date at Los Chingones, a Mexican restaurant in RiNo. Originally, Luke had planned to take Alex out that previous Sunday, until he remembered the Broncos were playing and he couldn’t miss his tradition of watching the game with his grandpa. He quickly rescheduled; and when Thursday finally came, what was meant to be a casual dinner turned into a four-hour first date. We went from dinner to a few bars, stumbled upon live music, and couldn’t stop talking the entire night. Just two days later, we found ourselves on our second date... an early-morning ski trip to Breckenridge. Luke picked Alex up at 6 a.m., and even though MLK weekend traffic was brutal, we didn’t mind. It just gave us more time to get to know each other. From that weekend on, we were inseparable. We quickly met each other’s families, knowing how important they were to both of us. Our adventures have taken us from San Jose to Arizona to Kentucky to Florida to Hawaii, sharing meaningful pieces of our pasts along the way. We fill our days with skiing, camping, concerts at Red Rocks, golfing, and even annual Spartan races. Traveling, trying new things, and learning from one another have always been at the heart of our relationship. One of Luke’s favorite discoveries has been golf, a hobby Alex introduced him to that quickly has turned into a full-blown obsession. In February 2023, we moved in together and started building our home side by side. In March of 2025, we added another member to our little family, our puppy Pepper. She’s brought so much joy, energy, and chaos to our lives.
On July 26, 2025, Luke told Alex they were heading up to Fraser for the weekend and had a date night planned at the restaurant on top of Winter Park Ski Resort. He used an “early dinner reservation” as the perfect excuse to convince Alex to dress up before the drive. When they arrived at Winter Park, we were walking around the base of the mountain when a photographer approached and asked to take our photos. Alex, completely oblivious thought it would just be a fun moment, and was surprised when Luke eagerly agreed to it! But as the photos went on, one moment led to another, and when Alex turned around, Luke was down on one knee. It was the easiest “yes” Alex has ever said. Alex heard cheers in the distance thinking that people had just witnessed the proposal, and it quickly became apparent that Luke had planned a full surprise with our families and closest friends. It was such a beautiful day! We can’t wait for all the adventures still to come, and to keep growing, laughing, and exploring life together.
