Avery and Riley’s story dates all the way back to freshman year of high school at Skyview- specifically 3rd period Honors Biology. At a mere 14 & 15 years old, a friendship began. Through the shared learning of osmosis, a mutual connection of Michaela Sanchez, and a random table group seating chart- Riley would begin to develop a crush for the big-time freshman baseball player who started at shortstop for THE State Champion Baseball team that year. With that mohawk, how could you not? Keeping this crush secret, Riley would opt for the "friendzone" for the next 4 years......

Flash forward to senior year of high school, lots had changed but Riley's crush for Avery had not. It was the Spring now and the big topic of Prom was on the horizon. With the help of pal David Tommasini, Riley was able to convince him to ask Avery to take her to the Prom- just as friends- for the sake of the group and numbers of course. Riley's plan would work as a few weeks later, Avery showed up at the door dressed as Peter Pan (very thoughtful considering Riley is a Disney fan) with a sign with some cheesy Prom-posal. In Riley's eyes- this was everything. A chance to slow dance with the long-time high school crush that only thinks of her as a friend- what more could you want?!? To everyone else this was just another day, another dance. To Riley- this is what all her manifesting had led up to. The day of taking pictures, being so nervous, hands shaking everywhere - Riley's dad (their Principal) had to assemble the boutonniere onto Avery, which has now made for a very iconic picture. Sad to say, nothing beyond a harmless hand hold and slow dance occurred here- but this does live in infamy as a highlight of their time in high school and time together. If only high school them would know what would be in store for them years later.....

The two would go off to college at different places in the state but still remain in touch and hangout during breaks, summers, etc. Riley would always say that Avery was one of the people she stayed in closest touch with over the years at university. She valued their friendship and had accepted "what is meant to be will happen". After graduating from college and living at their respective homes for a year- they decided they needed to "adult" and move out and be roommates! Coincidentally- both Riley and Avery had also found their way back to Skyview, now as working employees and coaches. Somewhere between the grocery runs, television show binging, and cleaning up around the house, Avery started to find Riley endearing and the crush was now reciprocated! Not sure if it was Riley's clothes always laying around, her unique vocabulary usage, or lack of seasoning used on her ground turkey that finally won Avery over but they have been inseparable ever since.

Riley and Avery's story is one very similar to that of Monica and Chandler of the television show Friends. Through the foundation of a strong friendship to now the new journey as lovers, the two of them really knew what they were getting out of each other. Having known each other now almost longer than they have not- they are excited to celebrate the start of their new chapter of life as a married couple with their favorite people and those that have been there through it all.
